Movie Reviews of L'Aventure C'est L'AventureMovie Review: Fantastic... Summary: 5 Stars
Probably one of the funniest films ever made!
I'm sure not many people today will agree or have even seen this film, to understand what I mean.
Then again, that's always a given. Claude Lelouch gives us one of the most insighful and intelligent treatise (in film)of the political and financial situation in our world today. This film was released in 1972, and it's message is more telling than ever. Claude Lelouch deserves to be honored as one of the greatest filmakers of all time (he's always been one of my favorites, along with his contemporaries like; Philippe DeBroca, Claude Chabrol, Georges Lautner, Ives Robert, Claude Satet, Jacque Deray, Jose Giovanni, Jean Pierre Melville, Jean Eustache, etc., etc,), The French films from 50's, 60's, and 70's are among some of the best ever made! How can you go wrong with Lino Ventura, Jacques Brel, Charles Denner, Aldo Maccione, Charles Gerard and Johnny Hallyday.
Claude Lelouch's cinematic skills are undeniable and only a discerning few will revel in it's artistic integrity.
His camera work,(optical zoom in and out),color and lighting, framing, mise en scene, are some of the best ever put on film and 'L'aventure, c'est l'aventure' is no exception. Without giving away any of the zany plot of the story, I will just say it's original and a comedy masterpiece.
This review is for the 2003 DVD Image Entertainment release, 122 Mins. in French with English subtitles, which I purchased through Amazon for a very reasonable price in 2005! I forgot to add, Francis Lai's great music, as always!
Merci Bien,
Carlos Romero.
