Movie Review: KRULL!
Summary: 4 Stars
If you grew up in the 80s and had HBO, it was inevitable that you've seen this film, probably more than once just from the fragments you would catch at any given time of the day. Same goes for The Beastmaster, but I'm reviewing Krull today. I hate to sound repetitive, but this is yet another reason why the 80s are unsurpassed in practically every movie genre. Krull is one of those whacked out sci-fi flicks that you'd never see made today. Only in the 80s did the film companies seem less retentive and would greenlight any crazy idea a writer or director had......and fund it! It's because of these cool people that classics like Buckaroo Banzai, The Ice Pirates and this film were made. Krull's a sci-fi fantasy hybrid with a decent budget. It's the classic good vs. evil story of a king travelling the countryside, picking up odd assorted characters along the way on a search for his stolen bride. You get lots of neat villians and good guys along the way including a cyclops(I was attacked by a cyclops once in the Bahamas), a magician, played by the funny teacher in Willy Wonka("Two?? What do you mean you only opened two??) who naturally screws up his spells, an evil woman in a spider web, a yucky reptilian monster guy, and a funky throwing star. It's all in Krull! It also has the classic action movie scene where the entire fortress crumbles after the defeat of the villian, and everyone's dashing to escape. Good stuff. So, if you're reading this and have never seen Krull, slap yourself a few times for being a schmuck, then go rent it or buy it!Movie Review: If you like Lord of the Rings, see this!!!

If you like lord of the rings see this film!! As a child of the Dungeons and Dragons era, I found this film fascinating. In all honesty this film combines the Middle earth/D and D genre with a hybrid form story of Star Wars..It follows the good vs evil concept, love vs hate, and a quest for an object, the glaive. Of course, this film had the potential to be great, I would not classify it as a "classic" , Many sci/fi fantasy freaks would enjoy it for the D and D / Lord of the rings type of film. More emphasis should have been paid to the " Glaive". As was mentioned in the film, the glaive was supposed to be weapon of enourmous power, however it was not used enough. Secondly, the quest to obtain the glaive was far too easy, perhaps a creature in the mountain to guard the glaive and to battle the prince...
The use of magic is quite evident in the film including shape shifting and changing into animals,,. Of course if you see the film, the slayers will immediatley lead you to think of the star wars stormtroopers and their lazer rifles...
Once again those of you who are in the sci/fi/fantasy genre who are into the lord of the rings will most certainly enjoy this film, now with the new enhancements on DVD, this film is most definatley worthy of 3 and half stars from a pure movie point of view....
Movie Review: Fun and Exciting. Fantastic Fantasy. One of the best films of the fantasy golden years.

Krull was a film i loved when i was seven. But i've seen films that were brill then and crap now. THIS IS DIFFERENT. This film was just as good and just as thrilling as it was back then.
Despite comments from others, this film was an original attempt to cross fantasy with science fiction. It worked, with the fantasy side showing most. Some things can seem dated but you'll be hard pressed to find something as exciting.
A beast and his legions are destroying world after world and Krull is next. To stop the war young lovers - the prince and princess of two waring kingdoms - marry but in an effort to stop his only threat the beast lashes out and steals the princess away. Smashing the kingdom into pieces. An old wiseman appears and revives the ill prince. Now they have to get princess back and they're pressed for time.
Exciting, passionate, and more than a little enjoyable. Krull sits with conan and other masteries of the fantasy golden era - the 80s.
Watch it - its laced with thrills.
Movie Review: In a world of their own....

It seems as if this movie is the victim of mediocre reviewing. Yes, it is not your top listed science fiction movie ever made but then again, you can regress to that time when a fantasy movie got in to your head and made you think....what if?This movie showed some nice scenery and better than average action scenes and well done music. If you have an imagination and a youthful spirit and are willing to let some fantasy enter your life just for the time it takes to watch this movie, you may just be pleasantly surprised.
It was nice to see a lot of nice reviews here too because I agree with those reviews. This may never be in your top 10 list of sci-fi but then again, for what is in it and what it offers, it is enjoyable and worth watching and is not your run of the mill sci-fi movie either. And finally, it is now on DVD with a very large amount of special features. Well done.
Movie Review: Great treatment but misleading packaging

A+ For the movie itself. This cheesy film has never looked or sounded better, and that's why I wanted the DVD.
That said, this appears to be a newer edition of the DVD. Many of the extras advertised on the packages are missing entirely. Instead, it comes with just the two commentary soundtracks, a trailer for Men in Black and a DRM-laden version of the movie to play on a computer or a Sony PSP. After repeatedly digging through the menu system to find them, I popped the disc in my PC and had a look at the contents. A quick examination of the disc reveals that it does not contain the Marvel Comic presentation, the Journey to Krull video, or any photo galleries.
I'm rating the product well because I didn't buy it for the extras, but new buyers beware!
