Movie Reviews of Kraftwerk: Minimum-MaximumMovie Review: You will like this if you like Kraftwerk Summary: 4 Stars
Not exactly "good time music", to quote Blag (Dwarves), but well worth it for anyone who wants to know where electronic music started. And it's fun! And really very good! A pseudo live concert, but there they are. And now I can count in several languages, at least up to 4.
Movie Review: Kraftwerk Minimum-Maximum Summary: 4 Stars
Kraftwerk Minimum-Maximum is a Live double cd. I enjoyed it, But My favorites are Radioactivity and the best of the best : "TransEuropeExpress" .Good cd full of bizarre sounds and beats. TransEuro Is worth it. Of course I would prefer if it weren't Live.
Movie Review: Minimalism to the Maximum Summary: 3 Stars
If ever there was an oxymoron, it's "Kraftwerk Live". You didn't expect to see the members of Kraftwerk playing melodies on keyboards on this video, did you? Sure, they showed up for the gig. They were there, and you could say that you saw them if you were there too. But this video doesn't show us anything more then that. Particularly frustrating is that during "The Man Machine" the camera only shows us what was on the screens at the show. Yes my friends, there is going to be a square on your TV, and that's it -- a square, on your TV, for seconds at a time. Even Ashlee Simpson has the decency to move her mouth as she pretends to sing. Leave it to Kraftwerk to take German minimalism to the maximum.
Movie Review: BETTER THAN NOTHING! Summary: 3 Stars
I cannot give it 5 stars just because it's the only official concert DVD they've made.
The Good:
1. Excellent Audio and Video
2. You can really see Ralf fly while playing and "singing" VITAMIN.
3. Henning and Fritz, the two new guys, are REALLY GOOD.
4. Nice song selection.
The Bad:
1. No Karl and no Wolfgang.
2. There was absolutely no need for this to be on two discs.
3. Very few of the songs or parts of songs are in german.
4. Almost no extras. They could have put the entire concert in disc 1 and use disc 2 for extras.
Movie Review: Interesting, but the video doesn't add much Summary: 2 Stars
Having missed the opportunity to see Kraftwerk in their 2004 tour, I bought this DVD so I could see what they are like live.
I had already purchased the audio CD version of Minimum-Maximum and enjoyed the selection of songs. I was hoping that the video element would add to the live concert feel of the album. However, I was a little disappointed to see that, for one, the band members are not very animated on stage - they pretty much just stand behind a podium with a laptop (one of them with a synthesizer) and occasionally bop back and forth as their music plays. It seems as though much of the music they use in their concert is pre-recorded, and they probably use their laptops to control the sound levels, etc. One of them does have a synthesizer and adds that, as well as the vocals. However, I feel that because the band members don't do much at all on stage, the DVD offers little over what the audio CD version has. Kraftwerk does occasionally use some visuals on the screen though. But even then, there isn't much to add to the excitement of the live concert experience.
