Movie Review: My kids favorite of all the Kipper DVD's
Summary: 5 Stars
We own or have borrowed all of the Kipper DVD's. Of the five we own this one gets the most requests from my two kids. My son is 5 and still likes to watch them. I can not say specifically why this is their favorite, but the mouse and hedgehog stories still get BIG giggles after years of watching.
As other reviewers have stated Kipper is very low-key and family friendly. Unlike some of the other shows my kids like, this one does not grate on my nerves after seeing it a few times. The stories are very simple, but creative and clever. There is a big emphasis on the characters coming up with simple ways to enterain themselves, them exploring nature, and navigating each others flaws and quirks with patience. The characters are very distinct in their personalities and not the typical kids show stereotypes. The music and artwork is also very well done. Another fun bit is the British words your child picks up from the DVD's. My son likes to call a flashlight a torch, talks about playing conkers, and will use occasional British expressions he learned on Kipper.
My favorite time to pull out the Kipper DVD's is for car trips or days the kids are sick. They seem to be calming, but entertaining to the kids and help them wind down.
If you are looking to buy other Kipper shows "Puppy Love" is our other favorite and it is almost as popular with the kids as this one. "Amazing Discoveries" is a great choice for kids over 3 with an emphasis on magic, aliens, and imaginary worlds.
