Rediscover the lost art of melodrama with Sam Wood's peerless "Kings Row". The film's strength lies in its subtle transformation from wholesome Americana into a dark tale of madness and evil, transcending any sentimental, dated attributes. Unquestionably, our 40th President did his finest screen work here, and Cummings fits the stolid, noble Parris to a tee. This combined with Sheridan's star-wattage and a top-notch Warners supporting cast (including Claude Rains, Judith Anderson, and Charles Coburn) makes Kings Row a town well worth visiting.Movie Review: Electrifying!

Personally I think this movie could garner a five-star rating from anyone, regardless of age. Like any exceptional movie, there are multiple layers to solicit an empathy from the urban goth to the rural colonialist. But, if you're a romantic, then this movie is a magic carpet ride into the depths of both heart and soul. The love scene between Parris and Cassie in the storm is just about the most explosive interaction between two hungry, existentialists that's ever been captured on film. This movie is an absolute must for any collection.Movie Review: The score is GREAT

This has long been one of my favorite films, so it is gratifying to see so many others also appreciate it.
However, to Ryuichi, I must really object to the characterization of this great score as banal. Such an opinion prompts one to wholly question whether you have any musical taste or judgement at all.
This is one of Korngold's best scores and that fact alone marks it as truly memorable.

What a great, classic film. Ann Sheridan, Bob cummings, ron reagan and the rest, especially charles coburn as a mean and sadistic doctor with secrets, all live and grow up in a small town.
I am sorry noone received Oscars for this movie!

This is an outstanding film starring Ronald Reagan, Robert Cummings, Ann Sheridan, Claude Rains, Charles Coburn and Betty Field. (1942) I have been looking for this film and was delighted when I found it available on Amazon.com. It is a great story and I thank you for providing it to me. I strongly recommend this film.
