Movie Reviews of King of HeartsMovie Review: Essential Movie And Great Score Summary: 5 Stars
Enough has been said in the other comments. Let me just add that the score by master film music composer Georges Delerue is fantastic and you should get the CD if you loved the movie. Incredibly, it is not available on Amazon even though they are supposed to have everything. I got mine directly from the publisher and I love it. They are at http://www.varesesarabande.com/. Search for Viva Maria! (a funny movie with Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau), as both movies' soundtracks are featured on the same CD.
Movie Review: King of Hearts Summary: 5 Stars
This is my favorite movie of all time. When it first came out it was shown at our local movie theatre several times a year and I would always go and see it. I love the characters and how they take over the French town after they are released from an insane asylum. It has English titles in the beginning and then goes to English speaking. The ending is perfect for such a delightful movie.
Movie Review: Best Ending Ever! Summary: 5 Stars
This movie has the very best ending ever. I'd like to see someone try and find a more surprising, happier, funnier ending than this one. The loonies are in town and they've found their king and my heart. This movie takes the bag. It's my father's very favorite movie and one of mine. I definitely recommend this movie.
Movie Review: Delightful Classic with Serious Message Summary: 5 Stars
"King of Hearts" is full of whimsy and fantasy. But beneath the endearing facade is a very serious antiwar message. There is no question as to who the madmen are. The entire cast of ecccentric characters and the production hold up well after 40 years. It's easy to see why this movie made Alan Bates an instant star.
Movie Review: Improved Version Summary: 5 Stars
I used to own this on laserdisc, but this DVD version is far superior. The LD version was full screen and this one is wide screen. There are restored scenes, and the print is considerably sharper. The colors also seem brighter. I won't mention the content, but for those who love this film...Highly recommended!
