Movie Review: Lovely animation with a sweet, engrossing story
Summary: 5 Stars
I was amazed my 2-year-old son sat through this whole story without moving. Miyazaki's animation has a wonderful artful quality (some backgrounds look like airy watercolor paintings) with a more realistic storyline than a Disney movie. The animation actually contains fewer drawings per second than Disney's, but the beautiful color contrast, story movement, and wonderful characters keep you wanting to see more. Phil Hartman's voice in the cynical, funny character kitty, Jiji, steals the show and made this movie my son's favorite. He asks to watch "Jiji" almost everday and I haven't tired of it either.
I enthusiastically recommend this movie to anyone, 2-96, boy or girl!
