Movie Review: In love with Almodovar's cinema.
Summary: 4 Stars
This is not the best film by Almodovar. But it is yet a true one,and as nearly all others the subject is about human destiny. How human beings can act or react to the gifts of destiny .All the baroque aspects of his first period enchant obviously, but the violence is not yet mastered, quieted and in fact made powerful as it is the case for CARNE TREMULA or his last extraordinary one: ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER (I ignore the spanish title and propose here an english translation of the french title).To be seen in spanish version in a good movie theater before buying the DVD on Amazon.com. I like the way Almodóvar presents his characters. I think all of them are special and stand by themselves,they reflect one way or the other, personality flirts. Take for example "Andrea Cara Cortada", Juana, Paul Vaso and Kika. What about the detectives, the wirter and Almodóvar's mother. It's a delightful mixture of situations as well as a very unuasual happy ending.Movie Review: A great first half.

Kika is a very ingenuous woman who lives with her boyfriend, She is a funny and silly beauty consultant whose ridiculous dialogs can make you laugh. Another character that you will find, is a sensationalist TV reporter woman dressed like a mix of a vampire and a Martian, she carries a camera on her head, like a hat, all the time. Kika's maid is lesbian and doesn't care too much about her appearance, this maid's brother is a porno star who is in jail. All those characters may give you an idea of how funny this movie can be. Would you think about a rape scene that is funny? Well, this film has one. However, in the middle of the movie, it turns dramatic, boring and the story centers on a crime. You might like that contrast but I personally didn't. This could have been a better movie.Movie Review: This film was disappoionting. Don't waste your $$$

This film is a waste of time. It is macabre without being entertaining at all. It is just a bad movie. Based on the movie poster, you think you are going to see a sexy film, ala 9 1/2 Weeks, or Wild Orchid. From the description, you think it might be a little bit funny.Instead, this film features four senseless murders, an aimlessly wandering plot, boring conversation, and a brutal raping that is no picnic to watch. Where is the clever dialogue? Where is the entertainment value? And if no entertainment value is to be found, did I learn anything from watching this movie ? I learned that I should have gotten another video.
Don't waste your money or your time. Get something else. If I could, I would give this film a 0 or a negative rating, rather than the "1 star" which is the only selection available.
Movie Review: Do not buy this DVD! Unviewable due to poor video quality!

The title says it all. I can't even write a decent review of the movie itself because the subtitle is white and whenever there is a light background in the scene, you basically stop following the dialogue. This is sloppy DVD transfer and is just a cheap way to cash in on Almodovar's popularity. There was absolutely no effort to provide value to the DVD. If you MUST own this movie, buy the VHS version instead. Why pay more for the DVD when it provides no value added?
