Movie Reviews of KhadakMovie Review: This is a great movie if you are into drugs Summary: 2 Stars
This movie has some great scenery, great music, and a really great looking girl. However the plot doesn't make a lot of sense. If you are into experimental cinema, and can deal with the extended dream / shamanistic sequences, you may like this. As has been said it deals with a vanishing way of life. The Chinese (hate those guys) come in and steal a poor families farm. It may be because the live-stalk was all contaminated, or it may be because the dastardly Chinese said the live stalk was contaminated to get all the nomadic people away from their yurts and working in the mine. The point is never really settled. The family is totally unable to fight the Chinese, so the story takes on a weird arc. I seems like the protagonist can't cope with reality and delves into the world of dreams. In some scenes he rallies with the other villagers and fights the Chinese. But then you find out those scenes are not real, and just imaginary/ or maybe they are real and every thing else is just imaginary. If this sounds intriguing to you then buy this movie. I am not a fan of open ended cinema. Even if I was, I don't think this was done very well. For me the movie would have been much better if there were a hard edge to the movie. Perhaps have a central 'rambo' like character take the fighting to the Chinese and kick some A$$. I know I am a simpleton, but I know what I like. If you are an artsy type, you will probably like this movie. If you are not, I would still recommend it because despite all the flaws, it is the only movie I can find about Mongolia, and the music is really great.
