Movie Review: Fun to watch and beautiful to listen to

This DVD is a classic example of "to each his own taste". I almost didn't go for this one due to all the mixed reviews posted here, but I am really glad I took the chance. In my opinion, it's a great show. You end up liking Kenny G the man as much as you do his music. He's a great showman with obvious affection and respect for his fellow performers and the audience. The fun he is having comes through in a sort of musical infectious good mood. He tells some good stories about his experiences on tour, too.
In my opinion, the interviews were well-placed between the songs and added to the enjoyment of the show rather than distracting from the music. The filming was done in such a way as to make it as though you were spending time on the tour (airborne views, cruising the bay, onstage and in the audience) and hence the picture is not always perfect, but I rather liked the effect. Rather like a very sophistocated home movie.
For any of you budding horn players out there looking for a little musical inspiration from the masters, this will definitely fill the bill and at the end you get advice from the man himself--"Practice forever!".
So, to each his own as with anything else in life, but this one gives it 5 stars.

This DVD has everything a Kenny G fan could want. Live music showcasing the talents of Mr G and his wonderful band, interviews with Kenny, band members and guests, and a very good audio transfer. Complaining about too many interviews pieced in between is nonsense. The interviews come in just as the song finishes, with the applause of the crowd fading into the background. Is applause REALLY crucial? I think not.
This DVD is a wonderful collection of live Kenny G music, with everything from latin funk to slow blues - a must for fans. If you're not a fan, leave this one alone - it probably won't convert you. But if you like jazz music, or Kenny, then this disc is great. Laid back show - perfect for Sunday afternoon viewing or as background. Much recommended.

I love this dvd. He and special guest talks very natural. The man is simply the best. I don't know how come people go to concerts and don't sway music that pumps you up. I got my money worth for sure. He tries everthing and that what I call a musician not just stuck in one zone. With no doubt kenny g is the best sax player off all time and in this dvd he shows how he sounds playing live , great perfomance and awesome solos , and this dvd works also with dvd players from europe , dvd concerts are in universal zone mode

I had the VHS of this product several years ago! The dvd is even better, with the added features! Kenny G is a master, and this dvd shows it! To all you out there if you ever have the chance to see Kenny G Live, do it; you will not regret it!!
