Movie Review: Fun to watch and beautiful to listen to

This DVD is a classic example of "to each his own taste". I almost didn't go for this one due to all the mixed reviews posted here, but I am really glad I took the chance. In my opinion, it's a great show. You end up liking Kenny G the man as much as you do his music. He's a great showman with obvious affection and respect for his fellow performers and the audience. The fun he is having comes through in a sort of musical infectious good mood. He tells some good stories about his experiences on tour, too.
In my opinion, the interviews were well-placed between the songs and added to the enjoyment of the show rather than distracting from the music. The filming was done in such a way as to make it as though you were spending time on the tour (airborne views, cruising the bay, onstage and in the audience) and hence the picture is not always perfect, but I rather liked the effect. Rather like a very sophistocated home movie.
For any of you budding horn players out there looking for a little musical inspiration from the masters, this will definitely fill the bill and at the end you get advice from the man himself--"Practice forever!".
So, to each his own as with anything else in life, but this one gives it 5 stars.
