Movie Reviews of Kate & LeopoldMovie Review: My Kate and Leopold review Summary: 5 Stars
I thought this movie was funny, good and light hearted. It is just the right movie to see to put you in a good mood. In the movie Kate(Meg Ryan) is the job and her ex-boyfriend is an inventor who goes back in time and brings back Leopold(hugh Jakcman). Kate and Leopold fall for each other. Leopold goes back in time and Kate never go to say goodbye. Kate's ex-boyfriend has pictures from when he first went back in time and saw leopold and he sees Kate in the pictures even though she wasn't there. They realize Kate is supposed to be with Leopold so she jumps off a bridge into the loop hole and finds Leopold just before he has to make the announcement who he's going to marry. Right when she walks in he says he is going to marry Kate and they get married. this movie isgood for most audiances. THere is some bad words but they're not affensive at all
Movie Review: Stunningly enjoyable romantic comedy Summary: 5 Stars
Much to my surprise, this personable time travel romance is the hidden gem of the holiday season. Of course, the plot - handsome 19th century duke travels to the 20th century where he meets driven but unfulfilled career woman - does require a certain suspension of disbelief. If you can accept the premise, the rest of the story is predictable but charmingly executed. The dialoque is witty and clever, and the acting is first-rate. Hugh Jackman is yummy as the duke, and Meg Ryan is Meg Ryan; the supporting cast is terrific. The writers have wisely mixed comedic and romantic scenes. My only reservation is the internal inconsistencies and improbabilities - I was particularly distracted by the idea that a 19th century duke would have the faintest idea of how to cook dinner. Extra credit for most entertaining use of a "sign here" sticker.
Movie Review: Delightfully romantic & irrepressibly funny Summary: 5 Stars
This is perhaps one DVD I'll watch till the disc melts in the DVD player.Dashing Leopold (Hugh Jackman) is the epitome of very vitally attractive gentlemanliness. And going by Kate's (Meg Ryan) expression in one scene, I was just as shell shocked. Horray for men who still have integrity all rolled up into one swooningly romantic package of gentlemanly courtliness. Bravo to this romantic comedy for bringing back a reminder of just how beautiful (so what if it's hokey?) romantic movies are without the blatantness of sex scenes or gory violence. This movie restores my faith in the movie industries talents and skills to make a film that offers funny, old-fashioned romance (even one set in the 21st century) without a lot of sex and violence. Even my 4 year-old niece watched this movie with me! All four times! A major plus to your DVD library.
Movie Review: Kate & Leopold Summary: 5 Stars
Kate and her actor brother live in N.Y. in the 21st Century. Her ex-boy friend, Stuart, lives above her apartment and finds this space near the Brooklyn Bridge where there is a gap in time. He goes back to the eighteen hundreds and takes pictures of the place. Leopold, a man living in the 1870's, was puzzled by Stuart's tiny camera and decides to follow him and they both ended up in this century. Leopold is clueless about his new surroundings. He gets help and insights from Charlie who thinks that Leopold is an actor who is always in character. Leopold is a highly intelligent man and tries his best to learn and even improve the modern conveniences that he encounters. This movie is refreshing, with a new type of concept, and all of the writing and acting are wonderfully done. Leopold will sweep you off your feet and steal your heart away.
Movie Review: An honest review -- finally Summary: 5 Stars
I've never really understood the whole Meg Ryan phenomenon until I saw this movie. In this movie, she plays a time traveling career woman who's attitude and sassiness are bursting with comic possibilities. Hugh Jackman plays the love interest who she loves. He's the inventor of the elevator. And their loves has its ups and downs! yes! Get it? Ups and Downs? Elevator. They go up and down? Anyhoo, Meg Ryan shows off some acting chops that have never before surfaced in her previous roles. I want to say she gave a riveting performance. But I can't, because it would be a lie and I never lie.
I've often dreamed what happens to a cute actress who's made one too many movies in the same formula. Now I don't have to dream anymore! Thanks you Meg Ryan for squashing my dreams.
