Movie Review: K-19: The Widowmaker.
Summary: 5 Stars
To be honest, I expected just another mediocre movie about war and submarines...well it wasn't. What was so great? Tension, from the very beginning, unveils slowly but gradually, keeps the audience on the edge. Music gets five stars on its own "*****" as well as acting. I can see why some people wouldn't like the movie, labeling it as "monotonous." It will be perceived differently by those who have lived through Cold War or were in the military than by those who have not or know little about the history of the period!

This movie is excellent. The music is fantastic, Harrison Ford's performance is very good, but evryone else's was great.The story is very intense and will hold anyone to their seats up until the end.
The reactor couldn't go thermonuclear, ok, but it could very easily explode (RBMKs have positive void coefficient), maybe set off the bombs the sub was carrying, scattering fallout, taking the US destroyer and start WW III, so, before putting down the reactor problem, get you facts straight.

I went on the recommendation of a friend after the papers gave it a so-so review. I was stunned by this movie. It's action packed and character driven. Harrison Ford made me forget who I was watching and Liam Neeson was larger than life in the cramped world of a submarine. The young man, Peter Sarsgaard, who played the officer in charge of the atomic reactor was just amazing. His fear was palpable and all consuming. A fantastic job.Thank you Kathryn Bigelow and company for a wonderful film.

this movie is so well done-- i was pleasantly surprised after reading such tepid reviews-- the acting, direction, the story -- and esp. the editing-- masterful! a few plot twists kept it totally exciting for me-- mr ford and mr neeson are incredible actors who wrench every moment to the max---- the movie was so compelling so seemlessly edited and beauitfully shot---- similar yes-to das boot---but based on a true story & just as engaging -- heart rending and beautifully realized -- a real gemMovie Review: great real life drama

I do not understand the morons that say that the movie does not have enough drama, hey folks "wake-up" "grow-up", this is a real life movie not a fantasy movie about Spiderman. The plot is great,the scenes are shot amazingly well, my prizes to the director, the actors were great too...I certainly recommend this movie to anyone, I have watched it three times on DVD, i really enjoied the drama :-)
