Movie Reviews of Jungle Fever

Movie Review: Another fantastic and honest Spike Lee movie ;-)
Summary: 5 Stars

What a great movie. It's very sad to watch in some respects. The colour of someones skin should not create the problems that occured in this film. It shouldn't matter if you are black or white and fall in love with your 'opposite'. It should come down to the kind of person you are. This is an honest look at the way people can react to interracial relationships which I hope has changed over the years since this was made. Wesley Snipes does an excellent job here (he's so hot - and I'm white but yet I LOVE him) and Spike Lee does another excellent job at direction. Samuel L Jackson and Ossie Davis are great and one of my all time favourite female movie stars Annabella Sciora is tremendous as the mistress of Wesley. She's Italian and has her own problems with her family understanding her.
Overall, this is an exceptional film (with a younger Halle Berry) that also has a great soundtrack. Lots of music by Stevie Wonder, and great acting by all. You have to see this for yourself - you'll love it.

Movie Review: Merely a Satire
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read some of the reviews to this film, and for the life of me, can't understand why some are so quick to lable both this move and Spike Lee "racist". I think it is much easier to throw a negitive lable on this film rather than set aside one's own prejudiced and close minded ideas to understand the oveall message in it. I don't beleive this movie is a manifestation of Lee's racist ideas and beliefs, but more a manifestation of the prejudices that circulate within ethnic groups throughout America. Instead of using the more passive, politically correct approach, Lee uses satire (*the use of wit, especially irony, sarcasm, and ridicule, to attack the vices and follies of humankind). Although satire is a bit arduous to comprehend at first, once one has grasped the concept, the message becomes clear. This was a very relevent film for the time, and still is today. I recommend this film, and much of Lee's work to anyone willing to consider the blatant truth about mankind in America.

Movie Review: Truth hurts doesn't it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I read some of the negative reviews on here and I just laughed at how naive some people are. They call this a racist movie, it is horrible, and spike shouldn't make movies anymore. But if these people open their eyes, they will realize that all of the negative comments and actions in the movie really happen. It is true on both sides black and white. The movie was made to expose how we are as a people in general and to expose the ignorance that different races have about each other. Not only does the movie address race but it also addresses drug problems in the community as well as issues that affect families. But I guess some people are too narrow minded to catch that. Anyway this is a classic Spike Lee film with great cinematography, good script, and an awesome cast. Definitely a dvd for your collection

Movie Review: You'll want to catch this "Fever."
Summary: 5 Stars

Following "Do the Right Thing" and "Malcolm X," this is Spike Lee's best film. It concerns an interracial tryst between a married, well-to-do buppie (Wesley Snipes) and his working-class Italian-American secretary (Annabella Sciorra). Spike Lee pulls no punches in this film, as he illustrates the unfortunate repercussions that sometimes result from interracial relatiosnhips. There's lots of frank dialogue from both sides, and some scenes are tough to watch. Still, Lee has created a beautifully-written, well-produced gem of a film that ranks among his best. Although Universal didn't give this DVD the deluxe treatment it could have gotten (the extras include only a brief featurette and the trailer), it's worth watching and merits a purchase.

Movie Review: Spike At His Best
Summary: 5 Stars

Jungle Fever is a film about interacial dating, black romance, fathers & sons and many other deep issues. The film hit home for me because as a black man who is married to a loving wife who happens to be white. It opened my eyes to a lot of things. I realized that love sees no color and iif you love someone color doesn't matter. Samuel L.Jackson desevered a Oscar Nod for his role as Gator the crack head. Spike delivers once again.
