Movie Reviews of Jude

Movie Review: Beautiful Film
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm surprised to see the not very positive Amazon.com review at the top. I've been waiting for this film to come out on DVD for what seems like eternity.

I'm a feature film editor and have found this film to be one of my favorites. Although the film doesn't follow Hardy's novel precisely (like almost all films that are based on a novel) the sparse and stark portrayal of the characters is infectiously moving. It's a very beautiful film with exceptional acting, and I'd recommend it highly to the potential viewer. If you like "intense" films that are not overly dramatized to an unrealistic point, this film is for you. I'd also recommend Michael Winterbottom's other films.
Note: my real rating would be an almost perfect 4.5 stars.

Movie Review: Not your regular romantic movie, but something even more
Summary: 5 Stars

I was stunned, honestly stunned. Its one of the rare films on incestuous relationships and I really, really loved it. The film offers a lot more than just regular stories plucked from the pages of Romantic novels. The purity, the passion, the tension shown between the two characters in the film. A strong chemistry between Kate Winslet and Christopher Eccleston had my eyes glued on the screen, I refused to blink even once while watching, I was so compelled, so overwhelmed by the acting and direction of the film. Its quite an unusual film, but truly a beautiful one, Incestuous relations may not be liked by everyone, but the film is quite an experience, quite a journey. Don't overlook this gem!

Movie Review: Brilliant
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the finest adaption of an Thomas Hardy novel yet. When I first watched it I was amazed by both Winterbottom's direction and Winslets acting abilitys. The movie is one of those you can only see if your in a good mood ie. Blade runner, I personally thought Christer Eccleston was fine but why did they need to show Winslet having a baby in a bloody mess but of all the scenes only one is wrong, When Griffins visits Jude he gets ready to go then when Winslet strips off fully nude and stops him going he has no emotion towards griffins at all.

Movie Review: excellent adaptation of Hardy's novel
Summary: 5 Stars

I read the novel before watching the movie and have to say that the movie captures the spirit of the novel. my only complaint was that the movie didn't show Jude's death scene at the end of the novel...Jude laying dead on his floor on a university graduation day..very symbolic of Jude'd unfufilled dreams. Of course, Winslet is both beautiful and an intelligent actress that lights up any screen..and Eccelston is also very good..both make a fine match....

Movie Review: AN EXCELLENT MOVIE .NOT FOR KIDS VERY VIOLENT.
