Movie Reviews of Journeys With GeorgeMovie Review: A day in the life of Bush during the 00 campaign Summary: 4 Stars
This story documents President Bush's 2000 Presidential ampaign. It is filmed by NancyPelosi's (california rep. the house minority leader) daughter. It was nice to see president Bush just being himsself. He was charming, charismatic and filmed doing normal campaigning activities nut acting for the camera. Being a stong Bush supported I may be a little biased but I had some liberals watch it and thy enjoy it as well. Pelosi does a good job especially with all the bias people expected her to have b/c of her mom. It shows things like day to day activities on the campaign trail. The president even remembered Pelosi's birthday. Check it out.
Movie Review: I loved it Summary: 4 Stars
Journeys with George is the first time I had the pleasure of viewing an Alexandra Pelosi documentary. I've seen a lot of docs, but no one that I know has ever achieved such an intimate look at a president (let alone any other significant personage). On the surface Alexandra seemed naive and inexperienced while all the time she was neither and in the process of winning George's friendship she was able to capture on video a most intimate portrait of the man who is well on his way to destroying our nation.
Movie Review: The press attached to a political leader Summary: 4 Stars
This is a film mainly about the press corp attached to a political leader while he campaigns. I find it quite interesting how they follow the man around as he goes from place to place.
It well put together.
Movie Review: "I Have Nothing To Say." Summary: 3 Stars
So says Alexandra Pelosi who is a particularly sensitive member of the mainstream media who decides to shoot a short narrative of the Bush campaign while on assignment from NBC. All of the action takes place before and during the 2000 campaign. Our narrator is not your typical journalist. For her, the personal always outweighs the political. This is clear to Mr. Bush and most of those around her. Her personality, and engaging femininity, endear Pelosi to a great many people. She quickly earns the avuncular attentions of the Republican front runner along with his master assistant, Karl Rove. They are playful and kind to her throughout. Her relationship with Bush is the most valuable part of the movie at it provides a glimpse of his persona in a (fairly) unscripted environment. We become aware of what a charismatic man he actually is.
Viewers are made privy to a great deal of inside information, unfortunately though, most of it is about Alexandra Pelosi. All sorts of personal details are proffered: she turned 30 on the trip, she became a vegetarian, her mother introduced her to the art of emotional politics, she has a crush on the "Newsweek guy but he has a girlfriend," and her hair has been falling out since the start of the trip.
One of her friends informs her that she is a wonderful interviewer but we see almost no evidence of this. Pelosi often asks questions that are mindless and quite odd. She queries Bush, "if you were a tree what type of tree would you be?" To random GOP supporters at a rally, she inquires of two why they would want to be out there in the cold. Politically though, there is much here that offends. Most appalling, is the amount of anti-white racism on display from our mainstream media. One reporter she films opening up his sandwich while saying that the "white bread" is symbolic of the Bush campaign. How profound! Two Time reporters, upon being approached, quickly defend their appearance and say that they wouldn't want the public to think that everybody who worked for Time was white. Yes friends, this is what overpaid journalists do, they spend their time worrying about the pigmentation of their own skin. When they go to South Carolina she gets a close up of a Confederate flag on display. I wonder, hmmm, do you think she's trying to equate Bush with racism here? There's even more. Another reporter impugns the campaign with being racist as he implies there are no "people of color" at GOP events. We discover that the word "caucus," as in Iowa Caucuses, stems from Caucasian which is yet another racial conspiracy link. The only thing is that the word doesn't. The man is simply lying. Pelosi could have looked into the word's derivation before putting together the final product but she neglected to. The racial obsession of Democrats is absolutely appalling. Although, despite my dislike for many of the media members depicted, out of fairness, I must give Journeys with George three stars for its primary source material concerning the president.
Movie Review: mixed feelings Summary: 3 Stars
While it was nice to see the softer side of "Dubya" for the material you're watching, it ran a bit long I think. And it definitely shows the liberal bias of the media. Alexandra Pelosi does a good job however of maintaining neutral ground, even though she does not hide her liberal leanings.
