Movie Reviews of Joe DirtMovie Review: Better Than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Summary: 5 Stars
I was supprised at how enjoyable this movie was. To peraphrase the riddler in Batman Forever, "not many movies are a summer and a winter, but this movie pulls it off nicely". This gets added to my list of movies that are far better than crouching tiger hidden dragon (I no longer capitalize this tittle, because when grouped together there is nothing proper about those nouns). Why? Because I feel that Crouching Tiger was the most overated movie ever and if I had the power to erase it from the conciousness of humanity I would. I'd also like to point out that all other movies ever written or produced are of higher quality better than crouching tiger hidden dragon, including Joe Dirt. Compared to the characters of crouching tiger, Spade's persona of Mr.Dirt is an Urbane delight and when Joe Dirt Flies it is explained by the fact that he is riding in a giant ballon, not by virtue of the fact that he is from China. To sum up I liked Joe dirt, but found crouching tiger to be the worst movie ever made (that includes all home movie...like with UFO footage and stuff). Therefore if you liked crouching tiger you will love, love, love Joe dirt. Give it a chance.
Summary of Joe DirtAnother of those cut-and-paste comedies from Adam Sandler's production company starring one of Sandler's erstwhile "Saturday Night Live" colleagues, "The Adventures of Joe Dirt" finds the magnificently caustic David Spade emasculated by a sentimental script and shapeless, haphazard cutting. Spade plays the title character, a white-trash orphan in search of the parents who abandoned him at the Grand Canyon. The humor is supposed to come from Joe's misadventures, his redneck gullibility, and his encounters with such figures as a serial killer, a wacked-out janitor (Christopher Walken), and a lovable gal (Jamie Pressly) who may, unfortunately, turn out to be his sister. But the squishier requirements of the story, requiring the audience to feel deeply for the pain of Spade's caricature, are an irritant and force Spade to veer from the nastier stuff he does so well. With Kid Rock, Dennis Miller. "--Tom Keogh"
