If you're looking for simple, good natured humor, Jim Gaffigan is your man. From topics such as hot pockets, to child birth to jokes about religion, nothing comes across as abrasive.
The stand up is 70 minutes, and it's all hilarious. I've watched this DVD set over 50 times by now (owned it for a few months), and for awhile watched it numerous times nightly. For me, it just never gets old. And his "audience voice" is outstanding. Even the simplest lines had me rolling with laughter (personal favorite being, "I didn't know he was gonna be doing bear jokes"). When you read it, it doesn't sound funny at all, but the tone of his voice, the delivery and his facial expressions make it a major success.
Sadly, the special features are nowhere near as stellar. Luckily they're only 39 minutes long, but none of it is funny or worthwhile. One has Jim and his wife in Chicago as he pretends he grew up here, another where he's dressed up as some random strange guy who acts like he knows how to make comedians and one where he's a cartoon character tap dancing in his underwear. Why is this here? Who thought this would be good?
Seeing his first stand up appearance though is the only thing worth noting here.
But even bad special features can't make me downgrade this DVD. Wonderfully funny by just simple everyday things (alot like Seinfeld in a way) from a lazy man who loves food.
If you like to laugh and don't need dick and fart jokes to get the laughs, here's a DVD for you.
