Movie Reviews of Jewel - A Life Uncommon

Movie Review: Steve Poltz and Jewel used to date eachother
Summary: 5 Stars

Actually, I haven't bought this DVD, but based on the review of the person in California, I will. I just wanted to let the reviewer know that years ago, Steve and Jewel were an item. They remain great friends. Steve helped her out with the Pieces of You album (co-writing some tracks) and before she hit it big, she would get up onstage with Steve's band The Rugburns and play Who Will Save Your Soul. The Rugburns were VERY popular in San Diego, and Jewel has returned the favor by having Steve play with her. My Old Lover's House is a track on the Rugburns album Taking The World By Donkey. That album is definately worth buying, as are all other Rugburns CD's you can find. They're very quirky. If you ever have the chance to see Jewel play live, do so. She is the most compelling live performer I have ever seen. Her talent is best displayed onstage.

Movie Review: Due to things happened...
Summary: 5 Stars

As I just adore Jewel and all the ways she has imfluenced my life. She is a huge role model for my rediscovering the finer points in life.

This DVD is a very opened way of getting to know a lot about Jewel like where she's from family life and how her family supported her in her dream. She is from a very artistic family and much of it is seen in her performances and comes out in the songs she decides to record. They all have messages not to give up and to follow dreams and not to overlook or pass them over.

Movie Review: You definately want to own this
Summary: 5 Stars

If you want to take a peek into the world of an extremely talented singer/songwriter performer, then get this. It's fun just to watch Jewel yodle! She's so talented. It's also nice to see interviews with her family, a very unique family who lived in the harsh existence of Alaska, but that unusual environment certainly helped to shape Jewel. Thank goodness for her wise mother who guides her to follow her true self, amazing woman. You will really enjoy this concert footage and the story of the early beginnings.

Movie Review: Good for any fan of Jewel
Summary: 5 Stars

This dvd has lots of footage of Jewel scatting in live performance and footage of Jewel and her family. It even has a short clip about the photo shoot for Spirit. If you are a fan of Jewel's music and/or her, you'll enjoy this dvd. If you aren't a fan, you probably won't have any interest in it beyond seeing a beautiful, extraordinary woman in live performances and such, but if you do watch it all the way through, you may become a fan.

Movie Review: great footage
Summary: 5 Stars

I think this video is great, if you really want to know about jewel and how it was like for her on the beggining, this is a great dvd. You can also catch yodling performances, and they are great, live performances are good too, but the best thing is the story being told.
