Movie Reviews of Jesus

Movie Review: Don't listen to what some people have to say.
Summary: 5 Stars

Don't listen to what some people have to say regarding the crediblity of this movie. Obviously, it isn't 100% true to the gospels but what do you expect?? It's a movie, not a documentary, of Jesus' life. And I have to say that although not everything that happens in the movie happened in the same way in the Bible, this movie is really really great. It portrays the HUMAN side of Jesus. The side of him that wasn't always completely sure of himself and suffered a great deal with having to die in order to fulfill God's plan. Jeremy Sisto was great as Jesus and Debra Messing did an outstanding job playing Mary Magdelene. This movie shows Jesus as a real person instead of a superhero. He had feelings and doubts just like everyone else and this movie makes that very clear.

Movie Review: Very REAL compared to today's life.
Summary: 5 Stars

Nobody can act out the life of Christ perfectly. All the movies will have at least several mistakes. I know people criticize this one because Jesus supposedly confesses his "sins" which in real life he didn't have any. But we can always disregard the mistakes and focus on the main important part. This director obviously knows the main point of Jesus's coming to earth. He also understands history very accutely and explains how Israel was under the rule of Rome and the people were expecting the Messiah to come and free them from the Roman Empire. But the Messiah's real rebellion was against sin and satan in order to obtain eternal life. This movie is an excellent material to explain this.

Movie Review: The Jesus I Know
Summary: 5 Stars

This version of the classic tale of the story of Jesus is the best one so far! It shows Jesus as a man with real emotions and real feelings. The other versions of this story in the past, reflected Jesus as a solemn and quiet man. He is the son of God yes, but he was a man as well. I really enjoyed this version because it allowed us to see a side of Jesus not shown in other "Jesus" movies and Jeremy Sisto captures it brilliantly! To walk with Jesus was an adventure to say the least and this movie allows us to see him portrayed with real feelings! He was a happy person and this film makes you believe that, excellent work! I recommend this to all who want a little more from our Lord and Savior!

Movie Review: Totally inspiring and moving and sweet and alive!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this movie! It is so refreshing to see Jesus portrayed as smiling and laughing and playing with kids, much more true to how I feel he would have actually been. Yes, he took on our sins, but he wasn't all about suffering, he was loving and kind and One with God - blissful and radiant and happy! I love seeing him so alive and real and human and divine. I also really appreciate how Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene are both so involved in this one, as I feel they were. I am buying this movie to help me keep connected with Jesus and so I can have inspiration in any moment. I love this movie and I think it has a great deal to teach us about the sweetness of Christ. Jai Ma!

Movie Review: Best Jesus ever
Summary: 5 Stars

Without a doubt this is the best film version I have ever seen of the life of Jesus. It fully humanizes him, while bringing forth the reality of of his divinity, and the struggles it caused him. I liked this film so much I bought copies for my church, friends and family.

The movie isn't trying to be a complete theology, but to represent an essence, to give substance to the man-god reality of Jesus, and present the most important of his teachings. As such, it's theologically sound enough for me.

In fact, it's theologically sound enough for the Pope. :)

I also like the version with Robert Powell, but Jeremy Sisto is a much more approachable Jesus.
