Movie Reviews of JesusMovie Review: Saved my life! Summary: 5 Stars
Despite all the other reviews, I have to say this movie was meant for me to watch. I was going through an awful time of my life, attempted suicide, depression, etc. and this movie made me turn to the Bible in which raised many questions for me and I very soon accepted Christ into my life. I don't know that the changes (positive) that followed in my life would have occurred had this movie not come into my life in a "God-like" way and opened my eyes. For the long-time Christian or those more knowledgeable about the Bible and the story of Jesus, this may seem like a poor depiction of the truth. Although, I followed my Bible literally, in my lap, as I watched the movie and found it to be fairly accurate. I did that because I myself was leery of what I was getting myself into by watching this, since it was not recommended by anyone (just sitting in the incorrect section of the video store). I give it a thumbs up!
Movie Review: A Brilliant Piece of Work Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, as a non spiritual person, rather i am just a total movie nut, i must say that this film was beautifully done. Regardless of your faith, or how you choose to express it, the movie blends impressive scenery with heart-wrenchingly superb acting. Jeremy Sisto as Jesus after his his former roles, was quite a thrill to experience. I found myself watching him throughout the movie and saying to myself "that would be the face of Jesus." The simple kindness and joy in his expressions, the truth so eloquently expressed. The additional cast leading a truly enjoyable landscape upon which this film was carried, left me wanting so much more, i ran out and bought the remaining bible movies made by TriMark. So, whether you are a religous person looking for a new face to add to your ideas of the bible, or just a movie-holic like myself, i truly believe this movie is worth watching.
Movie Review: IS THIS THE JESUS THAT WE KNOW? Summary: 5 Stars
I always thought that Jesus Christ was and still is a very serious man. But by the same token he is well known as a "Down To Earth" person. When it showed him dancing and partying I had to think for a minute, is this really Jesus that we know? Well why not? He's a human like the rest of us and he too was entitled for some fun too. However I don't picture him losing it and shouting to his heavenly Father over the death of Joseph because he felt he couldn't make life without him or just about ready to flip out while wood working because he couldn't make the project that he was working on come out right. Jesus was a man that was always ready and willing to face anything in life and took one step at a time on them like he'd preached to us to do ourselves in our daily lives. The bottom line is that I think this is a good movie for people of all ages, I like it very much.
Movie Review: Not disappointed Summary: 5 Stars
A wonderful re-telling of the greatest of stories. Unlike some movies of Jesus' life, this one doesn't portray him in a stiff, wooden fashion -- but as a believable character, combining both divine and human characteristics.
The story also makes understandable some of the underlying political intrigues that are a crucial part of the story, and it is done in an interesting way.
The acting is wonderful, the characters believable, and the story moving and compelling.
I think it is one of the best movie depictions I have seen. The only thing I would change might be the "slick car salesman" style devil shown in the temptation scene -- but who could know how best to portray such a character? This portrayal may be as likely as any other.
I certainly do not regret purchasing this DVD, and would recommend it to others.
Movie Review: And the Word became flesh, and dwealt among us. Summary: 5 Stars
I have seen the Jesus miniseries, and I have to say I loved how they portrayed Jesus' human side. It's understandible how Jesus was simply "giddy" at times because how else would you react when you are so full of love? Rather than relying on quoting scripture, the writers relied on everyday words but still stayed true to the meaning of the Gospels. One instance was the crippled man where Jesus drapes a cloth over the mans legs and cures the man so that he is able to stand on what was once crippled and twisted legs. The DVD doesn't worry about every instance or every miracle performed, but rather takes you on a journey of the person that Jesus was. At the life and time of Jesus, Jesus Christ was the center of attention by those who were his followers and those who wished to do him in.
