Movie Reviews of Jesus

Movie Review: My Favorite Religious Movie ever- A Must See!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I teach in a Catholic School and have used this video around Easter time every year since I've seen it. Ever since sixth grade way back 30 years ago, Jesus Christ Superstar was the one religious movie that had made an impact on me. That lasted until the year 2000 when I watched this movie on tv for the first time. I had never seen a movie in which Jesus was portrayed as having feelings, joking around with his buddies (apostles in this case)-actually being the "true man" part of "true God and true Man!" It affected me in a way I can't even begin to describe. Last year while watching it with my middle schoolers, I couldn't keep the tears in when he was carrying the cross towards the crucifixion and Mary was crying. The kids asked why I was crying and I explained. When he returned to make himself known after rising from the dead, I couldn't keep the tears in causing the kids to ask, "Now, why are you crying???"
"These are happy tears," I shared! Even listening to the music hits that emotional spot inside. Jeremy Sisto does such a wonderful job, as do Gary Oldman, Jacqueline Bisset and the rest of the cast. Amazing. Just simply amazing.

Movie Review: A Great Epic Of Jesus' Life....
Summary: 5 Stars

I own this movie along with Jesus of Nazareth and The Passion of The Christ. All 3 are good in their own right. However, I really loved this version of Jesus' life on earth. I must say that Jeremy Sisto!! was the perfect pick to portray Jesus. They couldn't have chosen a better actor for this role and I feel that Sisto has not gotten the credit he deserves for his role in playing our Savior. He gave an outstanding performance. Great job Jeremy!! I won't go into all the details of this movie for we all know the story of Jesus' life on earth. However, I will say that this version gives us a different look at Jesus.... the man. We see a side of him not portrayed in the other films. We see a Jesus with a sense of humor, a playful man who is both funloving and joyful. I especially loved these scenes for portraying Jesus as not only our Savior but a human... a man. Although a long movie, it is great from beginning to end. Excellent acting, great cast, great writing and great shooting. This movie is truly a version of Jesus' life that I will cherish forever. Excellent film!!!!!!!!

Movie Review: TERRIFIC! GREAT FOR CHURCH SURMONS!
Summary: 5 Stars

When I saw this for the very first time, I was amazed at how the filmmakers approached the story. True, it does have some dramatic license, but nothing that occured in this film was beyond the realm of possibility. Jeremy Sisto gives a good performance. I was surprised to hear that he has Buddist leanings (No offense torwards the people who follow this religion, of course.). I'm glad to see Jesus portrayed this way. Most of the people I've seen portray out Messiah were somber, and sad throughout. But Sisto's portrayal is the best I've ever seen. THIS is the personality I think Jesus truly had, and still has today. I really don't think he'd go around moping all the time, until near the time of His crucifixion, which I think would really be the only time he was sad. Great performance by Jerone Krabbe as Satan. I found him to be truly believable. If you would like to know about the life of our Savior, or just like hearing the story, then you'll absolutely enjoy this film, which I consider to be the GREATEST Bible movie of our time. Grade: A+

Movie Review: This movie changed my life!
Summary: 5 Stars

Before I was blessed to see this miniseries on TV, I was by no means a good Christian! I only went to church for weddings and funerals, and only thought of God when I wanted something material. After watching this movie, I was a born again Christian. Jeremy Sisto, who was one of my favorite actors to begin with, did such a wonderful job acting, I felt I was actually witnessing Jesus in action. The script was presented in modern language ( not the King James "thou" and "thine" mumbo jumbo) I gained so much understanding as to what Jesus really said and did, and the amazing people he touched. The next Sunday, which was Easter, I went to my first church service in years, and have been a devout follower of Christ since. I honestly believe that had I not seen this movie, I would be stuck as a non-believer, and I would be missing out on all of the wonderful things Christ has taught me. I recommend this movie for anyone who has doubts about Christ and the messages he brought to this world. Amen~!

Movie Review: Who do you say that He is?
Summary: 5 Stars

If you have problems thinking of Jesus as a fun, sweet, wonderful guy to be with; if you object to portrayals of him weeping, laughing and horsing around with his friends; if the nature of his death is more helpful to your faith than the way He lived His life... this movie isn't for you. What the much touted "Passion of the Christ" does not address is who Christ was as a person. If he wasn't fully human as well as being fully divine, his sacrifice would have meant less. Jesus is portrayed in this movie as the kind of guy you'd want to hang around with, wouldn't be ashamed of talking to about your day over a glass of wine and would love as long as you draw breath. At the end of the day, the salient question still remains: "Who do you say He is? Does it come from your heart or just from your mind? Do you do the right thing because you want to get to heaven, or because you love Him?" If nothing else, this movie should clarify those questions.
