Movie Review: overwhelmed

I was an adult when this show first materialized. I have seen it on stage many times. I loved the visuals of the film. This, however is the first time I have been moved to tears by this vehicle. I simply can not take any individual piece of this apart it is a whole and it is wonderful. Of all the work that Webber & Rice have done this will last the longest as I have seen in this production that what ever else may be done the story will forever be vital. I greatly appreciated the emphasis on the lyric and the downplay of the music. It has been put where it belongs, as an underscore of what it being said and done. I have read some reviews that felt Jesus was weak, I for one got far more out of his eyes than ever before, I also liked the fact that the man could sing, falsetto and in full chest voice. Judas is incredible, Mary sang her pieces in character and not as a "STAR" turn. On the whole very emotional piece.Movie Review: I thought the video was cool, but the DVD is ultimate cool!

I wrote a review for Jesus Christ Superstar VHS and I still say that Jesus Christ Superstar is a life-changing muscial. It changed my life forever, honest! Glenn Carter is an amazing Jesus, and there is no one else who could play a better Judas than Jerome Pradon! And if you prefer the original movie version, I would suggest that you see this version to compare and to just see Jerome Pradon in action as Judas--he's the reason why I got hooked in addition to clever lyrics and great music! And of course with DVD you get different, cool features: movie trailor, actor profiles and "the making of", which Superstar all includes plus some more. And also, you can pause the DVD to get nice mug shots of your favorite actors or stop the action right in the middle for a cool effect--like Glenn Carter throwing a TV! It is worth every penny!Movie Review: you cannot compare 1960's and this version!!!

I have read so many reviews saying that this version sucked and that this version cannot hold a candle to anything. I cannot disagree more this version has great singers ranging in thier styles and ranges that go together perfectly! jerome pradon as an example is a wonderful singer using his voice to tell a story it was because of his rock like lisp that i listened more intently to the lyrics and began to sympathise with Judas which i had never done befor. This movie uses the long flowing look of jesus to copare to the punk ruggad judas and thier voices are as different as thier looks! as to people saying that this version sucked they are wrong. this version was filmed entirley indoors which makes the story so much easier to understand the simplicity is genius!!
so kudos to jerome pradon and he enitre cast for a superb version.
Movie Review: A WONDERFUL REVIVAL

No doubt about it: the 1973 Norman Jewison's production is a very good movie. In Chile, it became a cult movie and ran for more than one year in the opening house. However, this 2001 theatrical revival stands as an excellent example on how to revive a musical in the screen, making it an original, fresh and vital experience. The performers are excellent: Jerome Pradon is great as Judas and Renee Castle as Marie Magdalene equals Yvonne Illman's dramatism from the Jewison version The updated viewpoint to the story makes total sense and it does not manipulate or change the essence of the original. Photography, art direction and costume designs are first rate, and the music remains superb. An outstanding and spectacular version, different to anything you've seen before. Having seen the original film over they years I eagerly awaited the release of the new film version and I was certaiinly not disappointed it is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Glenn carter gives the best portrayal of Christ that I have ever seen. The passion and the emotion that he puts into the role is a sight to behold. The interaction between Glenn and Jerome Pradon (Judas) is just amazing especaially at the last supper. The rest of the cast are equally amazing Fred Johanson (Pilate) gives an outstanding performance. I loved Frederick B Owens (Caiaphas) voice it is so rich and deep. Michael Schaeffer (Annas) was also outstanding. I would recommend this dvd to everyone it is just so amazing. Thank you glenn and the rest of the cast for giving us such an outstanding performances.
