Movie Review: Good guy film...
Summary: 4 Stars
For those of you groomed in the 70's, back then, there were only three ratings. G, PG, and R. So the PG on the DVD case for this film is probably the equivalent of a PG-13 film nowindays. A mild PG-13, but a PG-13 no less.
The film is fairly clean with occassional language (not very frequently because most of the film plays without dialogue) and one brief implied sexual encounter between Johnson and his newlywed Indian bride (no real nudity, the woman's shoulder's are briefly visible. The violence would probably be the most offensive thing in this film as blood flows freely in a few scenes involving tomohawks and shooting, but overall the violence is quick, blurry, and slightly fake looking. Not a kids movie, but mature family members will probably enjoy this film. Don't expect a quick pace, lots of action, or even a happy ending. Remember, it's a 70's movie!
Movie Review: Interesting Story Of A Rugged Life
Summary: 4 Stars
This was just a simple tale of a "mountain man" and his life over a period of time surviving in the Rocky Mountains. The time period is the first half of the 19th century. Robert Redford plays "Jeremiah Johnson."
The film shows Johnson's battles with the Crow Indians, his family life after he is "stuck" with an Indian bride and a young boy and some of the tragedies that befall all of them, as well as a few other people. It's very powerful in spots.
Although there are several characters, this is mainly a one-man show with Redford, and that's okay; he keep it interesting and the scenery - filmed in Utah - looks awesome on widescreen DVD. Hopefully, we can see this on a sharp Blu-Ray transfer some day.

a real guy movie. My son who is 13, loves this movie and has watched
it a few times with his Dad and Grandpa. Some parts are sad, but
all in all, just a great wilderness movie to enjoy on a cold, winter
night.

This movie was good. It reminded me a bit of "Dances with wolves", but nothing wrong with that right? It was violent, and probably a bit too much for any kids under 10.
