Movie Reviews of Jeremiah JohnsonMovie Review: Mountain man Summary: 5 Stars
Robert Redford plays Jeremiah Johnson, who after fighting in the US-Mexican war, retreats to the Rocky Mountains to lead a peaceful life in the wilderness. Little does he know his peaceful life will be accompanied by loneliness, an unforgiving and deadly environment, Indian massacres, marriage to an Indian Princes, and ultimately an Indian tribe seeking his scalp after he takes revenge for the murder of his family.
This film, based on a true story, is worth watching if only for the great photography of its filming location in norther Utah. Additionally, Redford's great acting and the continual action make this a very worthwhile film classic.
Movie Review: A classic movie - DVD quality enjoyable on HDTV Summary: 5 Stars
The movie is a 5-star classic and needs no further description. The film should find a home in everyone's film library.
I keep a 5-point image quality rating for the Blu-ray/DVD discs I own, subjectively rating how they appear on my 1080P HDTV. 1 = Perfect; 2 = Digital Sharp; 3 = Marginal; 4 = Poor; 5 = Unwatchable. The Jeremiah Johnson DVD is a solid 3 on the widescreen version, but it drops to a 4 on full screen. Both versions are included on the DVD.
Movie Review: Should Be A Part Of Every Serious Collection Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is a masterpiece, in my opinion. Definitely one of Redford's best efforts.
It's kind of a guy movie in that it involves survival, and man against the elements mentality, but it has elements of a love story as well!
I first saw this movie the year it came out (early seventies), and I'd guess that I've watched it at least 20 times since then. It never gets old or outdated.
This one should be a part of every serious collection.
Movie Review: Great film Summary: 5 Stars
Jeremiah Johnson is one those movies you need to watch and appreciate for the work that went into it and the unspoken message it has in it. I put "Dances with Wolves" and "Jack Bull" in the same category as JJ. Each film about a decade apart but each has the same rich theme. This is a must see and have in your video library.
Movie Review: great Robert Redford film Summary: 5 Stars
I was just a kid when this came out in theaters. I thought it was a great film then and think it is a good film now. The film gives you a sense of what it was like to be alone out against the elements. A feel for what it was like to be a mountain man. It may not be 100% accurate but it was very entertaining movie to see.
