Movie Review: A Great Mountain Man Movie
Summary: 5 Stars
Jeremiah Johnson is perhaps the best of the "mountain man" movies of the 1970's and remains a highly enjoyable movie. The grandeur of the mountain scenery, wildlife, and overall setting and look of the movie are fantastic. As a matter of fact, the movie was filmed entirely in Utah and the Wasatch and Uinta Mountain locations are just as spectacular seen in person today as they are in the movie. Those who find this movie enjoyable will undoubtably want to read the Vardis Fisher book "Mountain Man" as well as any of Terry C. Johnston's books featuring protagonist Titus Bass ("Carry the Wind", "One-Eyed Dream", etc.). Those who like this movie may also want to see "Windwalker" which is available on VHS and DVD.Movie Review: ONE OF REDFORDS BEST!

Watching this film on one of my HD channels I could really appreciate the beautiful scenery in this story of a man who leaves the civilized world to live in the mountains and live off the land. Redford is quiet and understated in this engrossing film as he learns the ways of the mountain country.
Will Geer gives a wonderful performance as a seasoned old trapper in this tale of mountain survival in the 1800's. Redford deals with starvation, encounters Indians and dangerous wild life while trying to blend into the unforgiving wilderness.
I'm not sure how this DVD looks, but the movie is one of the best of it's kind and worth checking out.

I had been looking for this movie as a gift for my father for months. I was very happy to find it on Amazon.com. I had it shipped through regular mail, it said it would take 7-10 days but was here in under 6 days. This was my first purchase online and have made one more since. Unfortunately I was not smart enough to use Amazon.com for my second purchase. It was supposed to ship in 2-3 days and has been almost 3 weeks and still have not seen it nor will the company respond to any of my emails. I recommend using a reputable company like this one for your online purchases. I will use them for ALL future purchase!!!!

Well, a few months back at MensNewsDaily we tried to do a Top 100 men's movies of all time. Doubtful many who saw it had heard of Jeremiah Johnson but it belongs in any collection of great men's movies and I reaffirmed that today by seeing it for the first time in many years. Johnson is a prototype of the strong silent man and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. In modern society the whole "mountain man" ethos is anti-social and pathological, but one can only marvel at the beauty Johnson witnessed everyday. This movie is a classic. Even when Robert Redford could'nt act its an outstanding movie about a mountain man. Jeremiah (Robert Redford) want to get away from the war and his previous life, which had problems. Jeremiah wants to become a trapper in the mountains with out any experiance. He makes new friends and enemies. If you haven't seen this movie get it and you will definately be happy with your purchase. I have seen this many times and I can recite the movie by heart and I still could watch it every day. Jeremiah does become that moutain man.
