Movie Review: Compelling story line. Great scenery
Summary: 5 Stars
If you ever harbored fantasies of running off to the mountains to live a simpler life, this is your movie. The story is compelling - a veteran of a war in the mid 1800s (we never know which one) heads to the Rocky Mountains to separate himself from the troubles of society. He finds that separation is not possible, but the story line takes interesting deviations (with other mountain men, indians, and the first settlers in the region.FABULOUS scenery of the high country of the Rockies in both warm and cold weather, and wonderful music (accoustic guitar and indian flute).
You know how there are two kinds of people in the world (for recreational purposes): mountain people and beach people? Well, if you are a "mountain people", this is a great movie for you.
A word of warning: It is kind of long - although well worth it. If you are not really into it, you might want to watch it over two nights.
I seldom watch any movie twice, and I watch this one at least twice a year.
