Movie Review: EXCELLENT
Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best hip-hop documentaries I've ever seen (only second to 2Pac's Oscar-nominated documentary). Jay Z is truly talented (contrary to what some believe). After seeing this, I wanted to watch it again. My only (and very small) problem was the fact that they failed to capture the making of "My 1st Song." Clark Kent's production on that song is unbelievable; it would have been interesting to see that go down in the studio. But that aside, I am overall very satisfied and urge others (with an open mind/ear) to purchase this marvelous piece of work...
NOTE: Watch this in Surround Sound - you will get the full effect of the concert. Otherwise, the Musicians will sound, as suchalady on the reviews put it, like they were screaming like someone was trying to kill them.-m

but you knew that. this is really my musings about the reviews of martin king or martee. wow. what a moron. to completely dismiss an entire genre of music as crap takes some serious lack of brainpower. i don't suppose that it matters because it's doubtful that anyone will take advice from someone obsessed with a racecar driver but good lord man, i mean, the closemindedness and ignorance. i also think that if you are hell bent on saying that something is stupid and acting like anyone who gets it is stupid, you should either spellcheck or learn to spell simple words like cancer. anyhoo, this dvd was a beautiful experience from a man who's gift for rhyming just keeps on giving- be it the 1st or 3000th time that you've heard it.Movie Review: Brilliant

Whether you are a huge Jay-Z fan or not, after watching this movie you will have either more respect for Jay-Z than you did before or you will develop a respect for Jay-Z and for his music. Not only does the DVD show excellent concert footage from his farewell concert at MSG, but it shows some behind the scenes Jay-Z. It shows him talking about his album, and it shows clips of him in the studio during his recording process. To watch five minutes of Jay-Z in the studio, and the way he develops his songs is truly amazing. His techniques are fantastic. I recommend watching this to any rap fan or any music fan, because Jay-Z is truly a legend, and his music will be heard by generations to come.Movie Review: Jay delivers

Hip hop concerts nowadays look like one big minstrel show. You have "coons" and "sambos" jumping around acting like a bunch of fools and you never understand what is going on. Jay Z however performs in a great concert that capped off his career and began his short lived retirement. I saw the film the first weekend it was released and next to "Star Wars" it was one of the greatest movie experiences in my life. It felt as if I were there. The DVD also made me re-live the moment. It was well compensated being that I was supposed to be at that concert. "Fade to Black" had an eerie resemblance to Prince's 1987 classic "Sign O' The Times". If you are a Jay-Z fan and have never been to his concert and would like to see the behind the scenes of the Black Album and its creation then get this DVD! I just watched it again after not watching it for a couple years and it made me LOVE Jay-Z all over again! This DVD will make you feel like you are at the concert. I have gone to 2 Jay-Z concerts and the energy is exactly how it is on this DVD. He is definitely THE hottest rapper alive! Period! I am a die hard Biggie fan and Biggie will always be number one! However, homeage must be paid to JayZ as he has defied and out performed and outlasted the entire rap game! It's HOVY Baby!~
