Movie Reviews of Jaws 2

Movie Review: Great sequel!
Summary: 4 Stars

To me, I think Jaws 2 is one of the greatest sequels of the series. Even though if Steven Speilberg didn't direct it I still like the movie. The director of this movie did an okay job and yes of course it's not a Speilberg movie but who cares! Jaws 2 is a great movie and I have it on video. I have Jaws 1, 2 and 4. I think I'm leaving out 3 because I don't think it's great. It's fake and it's not even scary. I use to watch Jaws 3 alot when I was a little kid and it kind of scared me then but not anymore. The only Jaws movies that scares me is probably 1 and 2. But I still watch them even though if I get scared. I think your suppose to get scared right? They are horror movies! Jaws: The Revenge didn't scare me that much but it's still good. I hope someday they will release the first Jaws movie in the theater that would be great! But I'm glad that they released the Jaws movies on DVD and video first so that we can enjoy the masterpiece of the film. It's a perfect movie to own in your collection. I'm sure that they won't release the Jaws movie for a couple of years in the theater. But I doubt they won't. Thanks for reading!

Movie Review: Not as sharp as JAWS, but still a worthy bite
Summary: 4 Stars

First a personal note. When JAWS came out in 1975, I was 8 years-old and my parents wouldn't let me see it. I must have been the only kid in the third grade who had not seen this new and exciting phenomenon! Three years later, having heard the sequel was more tame and less bloody, they let me see JAWS 2. I was also able to see it at an old movie house in a small beach town in the Hamptons, adding to the effect of where the movie took place.

So there lies my sentimental connection with this film. Yes, it's not as good as the original, and who in 1978, in their right mind ever thought it would be when they were paying for their ticket? What I've always admired about this film is that, if nothing else, it tried to be a new and different film. Even the movie poster says "ALL NEW" on it.

The water skiing sequence, followed by the exploding boat is original and exciting. The shark's final electricution at the end is, in it's own way, more fun to watch than the exploding shark in the first movie. It's prolonged, intense and shocking (forgive the pun).

Movie Review: OK follow up
Summary: 4 Stars

I remember seeing this film in the theater as a kid

The scene where Brody is in the ocean looking after the remains of the boat "accident" & the burned body jumps out.
We all jumped.

The positives about the film is bringing back the late Roy Scheider, late Murray Hamilton, Lorraine Gary & having John Williams back to do the music.

It is an OK follow up.

Yes another large great white back eating people in the Amity area.

So, the Brody kids were played in 4 films by 4 different actors.

What brings the film NOT anywhere near the original classic film is wasting of time on the teenage characters. BORING. Did you care? I did Not then & I do NOT now.

At least some extras on the DVD
NO chapter search list.

You could do worse than Jaws 2. Like for example 3 of 4. Truly bad films.

You just have the music & the some of the original characters back.

Would have been nice to get Dreyfuss back just to take a phone call from Scheider.

Movie Review: a 25 foot Great White could pull over that tiny helicopter
Summary: 4 Stars

I have to say, my friends laughed when the shark pulled down that teeny tiny chopper, but I thought it was sweet, not the cute sweet, but the cool sweet. I mean, look at how small it was, and look at how big Jaws was. ...
There was also a great ... seen right after that. Sean is stupid enough to stay on the up-turned boat on his own, and when they move apart he falls in. Of course they wouldn't [destroy] Sean, at least not until the 4th movie, so some girl who doesn't have a name, (she probably does, you just don't hear it) jumps in to save him. Sean gets out, she almost gets out but than Mr Shark eats her almost whole, bad way to go.
The shark seemed smaller this time, though it was the same robot, and I've figured out that each shark had a personality.
THe first shark was the boss type shark, the second was that henchman who's really hard to [destroy], the third was the big goon, and the 4th was the tiny goon trying to be cool.
A good sequel, though Jaws The Revenge was weak.

Movie Review: "Jaws 2" doesn't lack bite
Summary: 4 Stars

Four years after Amity was terrorized by a great white shark, another one steps in to ruin their tourist trade. The difference is that this time there isn't any real evidence a shark is out there; just some divers and water skiiers disappearing and no witnesses. Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) only has his suspicions, and of course the city fathers can't (and won't) act without any proof. By the time there's proof, it's a race against time as ten sailboats with teenagers set out for a day in the sun, which include Brody's two sons. Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss are missed but film actually has much more action and shark encounters but less graphic violence. Less visually upsetting than the original film, but plays like a funhouse where things pop out and go "boo"! The last half of the film picks up speed that leads to an exciting climax. Some TV prints include extra scenes which include a longer attack on the coast guard chopper as well as scenes on land. Easily the best sequel.
