Movie Reviews of Jaws 2

Movie Review: Great DVD for fans!
Summary: 5 Stars

It is impossible for a film to follow Jaws and maintain the grip it had on the audience, but this film does stand up on it's own. The story follows the original family and their struggle against the Amity community. It does a wonderful job with character and story development, but the action here focuses on the teen culture on Amity. The actresses playing Tina & Jackie are the best scream queens I have ever seen! I have never seen terror portrayed with such intsense and convincing emotion. The teens have so much fun in the film, are adequately developed and distinguishable, and the action sequences are incredible. This film has terror, story, and action wrapped together beautifully. From the moment the boats collide to the "Raft of Medusa" moment, the heroic rescue of little John by his "baby-sitter", and the final shark attack. You'll be on the edge of your seat.

The DVD includes a great hour long featurette on the making of the film covering everything from the different pitches by various writers to capturing the film's final moment. This is not one of those 15 minute featurettes that serves nothing more than a trailer. It is great to learn about the trials and tribulations of making a sequel, plus a director's commitment to character and plot development. Deleted scenes include an incredible sequence with the helicopter pilot struggling underwater! If you loved the first film, don't let this pass you by. This does target a younger audience, but it does a great job continuing where the first film left off.

Movie Review: A fantastic follow-up to the first!
Summary: 5 Stars

Jaws 2 is the incredible sequal to the original Blockbuster created by Steven Spielburg!I love it!Clearly ALMOST as good as the original! This film has great special effects and acting!I think the storyline is really good, and the shark looks incredible! If you watch the Making Of Jaws 2 on this dvd, you`ll see that they called the shark scarface, cause it had lots of scars on it`s face. Here`s how the story goes....

It`s been four years since the Great White terrorized the town of Amity, and the killer of the first shark,Chief Brody,is thinking it`s safe to go back in the water. But he soon learns the terror is far from over when mysterious things start happening...people dissapear, boats blowing up,.....and only one man knows the truth...Chief Brody himself believes the town has another shark problem, and soon believes the shark may be a relative or friend to the first and wants revenge.A group of teenagers including Brody and Ellen`s sons,Michal and Sean,go out in sailboats, and soon learned that they`re not alone when a giant shark attacks there boats and one of them gets eaten. Will they all survive?...
Find out when you buy this dvd!It also has cool bonus features including The Making Of Jaws 2,Trailers,Set Up,Reccomendations, and more! After you see this sequal,I think you`ll like the next two Jaws sequals,Jaws 3 and Jaws:The Revenge!Enjoy the movie!Hope my review helped!

Movie Review: Jaws Sequel
Summary: 5 Stars

When Jaws was released in 1975, it became an instant box office hit and grew into a cultural phenomenon. It was only a matter of time before the Universal released a sequel. Jaws 2 was released in 1978 and while it predictably did not live up to the original in terms of quality and box office success, taken on its own, it is a great film. Roy Scheider gives a stellar performance as Chief Martin Brody. Still disturbed by the events from the first movie, Chief Brody slowly unravels as the signs of another shark invading Amity start showing up. Again, the powers that be in Amity refuse to believe that they have a shark problem on their hands. Brody reaches a breaking point when he snaps on a crowded beach and starts shooting up the water when he thinks he sees a shark and is fired as a result of the incident. Mr. Scheider perfectly conveys the sense of a man who has finally been beaten by the system. Meanwhile, his two sons, Mike & Sean and a bunch of their friends are out day sailing when the shark hunts them down and starts attacking. There is a good deal of suspense in these scenes leading up to the climatic showdown between Brody and the shark. The sequel is definitely more violent and bloodier than the first one. Jaws 2 is not in the class of Jaws, which is one of the best movies ever made, but it is still a highly entertaining movie.

Movie Review: Great! Similar to the 1st film.
Summary: 5 Stars

Sequels aren't always terrible, they're not always better than the original, they're not always as bad as the original. This one is not as good as the first, but I still think this is an amazing film. I feel the film is a lot like the first, the same characters from the first are in it, it's set in the same place (Amity island) and the shark is just the same really.

This time this one is mainly about a shark, from the same family as the one from the original -- I think -- which is coming back to the island to finish off the work the other shark started. Cheif Brody (Roy Scheider) believes that the mysterious deaths occuring in the water might be the work of a shark, soon he gets too close and starts to panic people, and he gets fired. Then a group of teenagers (two being Cheif brody's two sons) sail out to sea, but then the shark comes to wreck havvac on them, so Cheif Brody tries everything he can to save them all.

This film is no match to the original film, but it's good fun, and can keep you on the edge of your seat at points. I think this film has more shark-action then the original and the body-count is much bigger, but it just seems to be missing one small thing that makes the first film so great. Still, this is a\ brilliant film. Be careful about 3 and 4 though, as they aren't really as great.

Movie Review: Excellent follow-up - wonderful to revisit the characters!
Summary: 5 Stars

You just can't please everyone.

I found it enjoyable to rejoin the sheriff and his family - to make connection with his problems [or nightmares] of another killer shark. This is 4 years later.
Also we meet the mayor again and the town council who have troubles believing that another shark has stopped by.

I was just highly irritated by the dorky screaming of the gals who should have been smart enough to keep quiet.

The color, the water shots, the boats all lent themselves to a visual feast. Just wish they had left in the little reference to the good sheriff's possible jealousy of his wife's boss. [grin - just a matter of interest]

Teenagers? I have a pet peeve against their careless irresponsibilities [kids seem to think it is cool to disobey their parents in this day and age]

I will commend the actors and actress who played them for most excellent portrayals of their parts.

I surely did enjoy that bug of a helicopter trying to rescue the teens and the shark's big shock.

The story was well put together and thrilling to watch. Made in 1978, this movie is fast becoming a classic.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ***** Great for the whole family and don't miss the special features "the Making of Jaws 2"
