This is the best of all the renditions of this story. The characters are developed so well by the actors and actresses, and the story is brought to life in all its tragedies and triumphs. Black and white always seems to blend best with these stories and allows the viewer to see the story rather than being dazzled by the brilliant color. The classic comes to the screen and is reincarnated as a classic film. The film gives just the right touches of a dark moodiness. Welles is excellent as Edward Rochester, the tormented master of the house. Joan Fountaine is wonderful as Jane. Look for a very young Elizabeth Taylor in one of her earliest roles. I have enjoyed this movie since I was a young girl. It has only gotten better with age. The performances are wonderful and Orson Welles is terrific. I appreciate that the movie is still in glorious black and white. The shadows of his home would be lost along with the brooding atmosphere.Movie Review: Jane Eyre

If you ever want a wonderful heart warming movie with great feeling and acting please watch this movie. It has drama and warmth, it is one of those movies you cannot stop watching. I have enjoyed this movie many times over the years and I shall continue to do so with my new DVD.
