Movie Review: Intense and Truthful

I love this version of "Jane Eyre". The script was intelligently written. It remained faithful to the central issue of the novel: how Jane Eyre's unique caracter and personality ensure her a sincere and passionate love. That is why the oblivion of other story lines, such us those of her sufferings at her aunts house and the discovery of her cousings, is not at all cuestionable. Their non-appearance concentrate the love story, which, without a doubt, is the main interest of the writer and the director. Even the dialogue, most of which does not proceed from the novel, has been created to enhance the sensually intense feelings that Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester have for each other.I consider this film an excellent adaptation, hence it captures the spirit of the novel even when it does not depict all of it's actions or gather most of it's dialogue from the text.
Movie Review: Passionate performances

This is probably the best film version I've seen of Jane Eyre. One of my friends, who is no fan of the book or the other film versions, commented that she "got" the characters for the first time when she caught a rerun on A&E and I'd have to agree. The essence of Jane and Rochester is all here: Passion. It's restrained in "plain and little" Jane, who inside is all rebelliousness, and smoldering in Rochester, who here is just as gruff and domineering and bad-tempered as he ought to be. Watching this film I can believe that this version of Rochester and Jane are passionately in love with one another. I don't believe that in the other versions I've seen, including the most recent PBS version. Cutting out portions of the book to get at the meat of the story was a wise decision that made for a much better film.Movie Review: This movie got me hooked on A & E Classics!!

I read the book in high school and thought it was too melodramatic. When I decided to watch this movie, I had not heard of either actors and wasn't expecting much. I thought, as a previous reviewer said, Ciaran Hinds was too unattractive for me to like this character. After being glued throughout the entire film, I found myself enormously drawn to both Mr. Rochester and Ciaran Hinds. I liked him so much that I bought PERSUASION, IVANHOE and THE MAYOR OF CASTERBRIDGE. I have also watched other versions of this film but none comes close to this one. Avoid the one with William Hurt. It's quite awful.
Samantha Morton (who I have seen in EMMA and TOM JONES) will forever be Jane Eyre. She nailed the part perfectly.
I highly, highly recommend this film. A great romance!!
Movie Review: Why is this so good????

This Jane Eyre movie is so good because the acting is great and the plot and dialog is also great and to me this is one of the best costume movies! Samantha Morton is a perfect Jane Eyre and I can totally picture her as the character from Charlotte Bronte's book and I can totally picture Ciaran Hinds as Edward Rockchester and I think his acting along with Samantha's was great, great, great! His Rockchester may be gruff and yelled a couple of times but he is hardly the snarling beast that some reviewers have made him out to be and lets face it his character is supsosed to be gruff and rough around the edges! I really loved this movie and I think if you give it a chance and stop comparing it to the older Jane Eyre movies that you just may like it too!Movie Review: So Romantic!

I can't even count the number of times I've watched this one! The performances by both Samantha Morton & Ciaran Hinds are both SUPERB! If you're a romance lover, this one's for YOU--I promise, you will NOT be disappointed. I'm not going to get specific so as to not reveal any of the juicy details of the story, so I remain mysteriously vague on purpose to spur you on to buy this one for your DVD collection. The story is tragic, but with a happy ending for all. It will keep you on the edge of your seat & hungering for more all the way to the end. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this movie, & I refuse to ever watch any previous versions, that's how taken with this one I am! Highly Recommended!
