Movie Review: A great dvd set overall

In this dvd set you get more than you pay for. The main event in this dvd set is the concert at the legendary Greek Theatre in Berkeley California, the japan tour is really just a extra treat.
First of all there are some interjections between some songs but these are not interruptions, they are just there to give you some insight on the upcoming song. I find these interjections interesting, I didn't find them annoying. The actual concert is very good, great performances and music.
The sound is not the best it could be on the first disc, and that's really the only thing wrong with the dvd. The audio has too much crowd noise and doesn't sound as clean as it should be. The sound is still decent and more then tolerable, if you have a good sound system and audio setup you'll be satisfied with the audio.
The extras on disc one include extra songs and interviews that are nice to watch after you've seen the whole concert. Disc two (the japan disc) has a making of the in between dreams album, this is very nice to see because you get a better understanding of the album.
The main footage of the japan tour is nice as well and has better audio than the first disc. Jack plays some older songs in a more personal setting and gives further insight to his music.
Over all if you a Jack Johnson fan you should pick up this dvd, it's more than enjoyable, it's a great value, and the extras more than make up for any faults.

Summary of Jack Johnson - A Weekend At The Greek & Live In Japan [2 DVD]
This two DVD set encompasses two separate films, A Weekend at the Greek (shot at Berkeley's famed Greek Theatre at the beginning of his US tour to promote his latest album In Between Dreams) and Live in Japan (shot in Japan at the end of the worldwide tour to promote his second album On and On) as well as over 30 minutes of bonus footage. Directed by The Malloys, both films blend concert performance with intimate interviews and backstage footage.Live in Japan captures Jack's band in its original trio form, with Bassist Merlo Podlewski and drummer Adam Topol touring Japan in front of rapt Japanese audiences performing selections from Brushfire Fairytales and On and On as well as an early version of “Banana Pancakes” which appears on In Between Dreams. Donavon Frankenreiter and Money Mark make guest appearances.
Shortly after the completion of the Japanese tour, the band convened in Hawaii to record his new album In Between Dreams, with Zach Gill from Animal Liberation Orchestra adding piano and accordion. A Weekend at The Greek captures the band's expanded sound and 4 piece lineup ( Gill joined as a touring member of the band) as well as sit ins from the growing Brushire Records family (G. Love, ALO, Money Mark and Matt Costa ). Filmed over two nights at one of the band’s favorite venues, the film captures the magical connection between artist and audience, as well as providing glimpses at the creative process that yielded those crowd favorites. The total running time of the two disks exceeds 3 hours, and both feature stereo and 5.1 audio .
