Movie Reviews of JabberwockyMovie Review: Excellent Terry Gilliam flick Summary: 5 Stars
For the uninitiated, T. Gilliam is the ex-Monty Python genius behind films such as '12 Monkeys', 'Brazil' etc. - though for me, this is probably his best film.
Featuring his trademark surreal humour in a grimy medieval setting, this chronicles the adventures of our hapless anti-hero Dennis (played by Michael Palin), trying to win the hand of the fair Griselda Fishfinger (not anything like as cute as her name might suggest). Similar in tone to 'Life of Brian' and 'Time Bandits', though even darker, if that helps explain things any.
Based on the 'Jabberwock' poem from Alice in Wonderland, this is suitable for all ages, especially for people with a slightly warped sense of humour.
Movie Review: Very Funny, Dark Medieval Comedy Summary: 5 Stars
This is not a Python film so don't go in expecting another holy grail its not, First its not done in a sketch format like the grail, rather it stays with the main character throughout the film. Also the few Monty Python like scenes in it really seem out of place as the movie is very dark and cynical not the happy silly type comedy of Monty Python. This movie is underrated, its very good on many levels, the ending is excellent, it has great re watching value. I highly recomend checking this one out.
Movie Review: Very Amusing Summary: 5 Stars
Jabberwocky is a somewhat "dark" comedy set in medieval times. The main character seems to have the worst luck no matter where he goes, but doesn't always seem to notice. After many misunderstanding and general confusion, he winds up having to be one of the knights to battle a monster. I'm not going to give away any more, but I would suggest it if you like Monty Python, some of the members are in this movie.
Movie Review: fabulously ctude Summary: 5 Stars
Gilliam at his most mad and outragous. Gorgeous to look at. Hilarious. Michael Palin is brilliant. A collection of some of the greatest British comics - all in great form. The middle ages have never been so smelly. I loved it.
Movie Review: Jabberwoky DVD Summary: 5 Stars
Funny, funny, funny. Terry Gilliam (Monty Python) spins a fantastic story that is hilarious and a little dark. A must have if you enjoy Terry Gilliams other work or are an avid Monty Python fan.
