Movie Review: Well done.... a man who truly appreciates the audience!
Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not quite sure why I like Ivan Parker, but it must be his dapper-dan image, his contemporary voice, and his longevity with the Gaither Homecoming Series. Parker began singing with a quartet called Singing Americans then, Gold City. He chats with Bill Gaither about his start in gospel music, the love of the audience, his family including a grandchild, and his bus driver, who is a really good cook.
Ivan Parker also shares some of his memorable moments singing "Midnight Cry" for the S. African audience; being scared to sing a beautiful Gaither penned song, "Go Ask" with Gloria and Bill in the Joy in the Camp Concert. And the feeling of having "arrived" performing at Carnegie Hall and sings Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA". He shares his experience after 911 and performs "Statute of Liberty". I like the song "I Can Only Imagine".
Some other songs include: "Just Wait Til You see My New Home", in honor of Jake Hess, "Carried Away"; "Jesus Loves Me"; "Rise Again"; "Then He Said Sing"; and the upbeat "When I Get Carried Away".
