Movie Reviews of Iron Maiden: Visions of the BeastMovie Review: These visions are worth your Maiden DVD collection! Summary: 5 Stars
If you like Maiden, I am very sure you will love this DVD. It contains their videos from 1980 to 2001, and even contains some live videos as a bonus. Even a bonus couple videos from Rock in Rio for those who don't have the Rock on Rio DVD.
WOMEN IN UNIFORM: 10/10: Great song and video. I love the part where the guy wakes up as eddie!
WRATHCHILD: 8/10: Taken from "Live at the Rainbow". Very cool.
RUN TO THE HILLS: 10/10: Mixes old footage with them performing. Awesome video!
NUMBER OF THE BEAST: 9/10: Nicko's first appearance (as the Devil). That dancing couple on stage are hilarious!
FLIGHT OF ICARUS: 10/10: Very creative video, mixing footage of them recording the song at the studio with some random footage.
THE TROOPER: 7/10: Live video, with footage of war. Very cool.
23:58: 6/10: Great song, but I don't get the video.
ACES HIGH: 10/10: Visually entertaining, with lots of B&W WWII footage.
WASTED YEARS: 8/10: Sort of a reflection video, really cool. Lots of rare footage.
STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND: 4/10: Awesome song, but did you really have to make your lip synch obvious, Bruce???
CAN I PLAY WITH MADNESS: 10/10: Hilarious video!!!!! May be my 2nd favorite. Even has a Monty Python member cameo.
THE EVIL THAT MEN DO: 9/10: Cool performance vid, with great mixed footage of the tour.
THE CLAIRVOYANT: 10/10: Nice to see some Donington 1988 footage.
INFINITE DREAMS (LIVE): 10/10: Taken from the Maiden England video. HEavier than the studio version and really funny Bruce's "Puppet kicking" thing at the beginning.
HOLY SMOKE: 10/10: My fave video- HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!! Awesome random humor, and Bruce is just hysterical in this one.
TAILGUNNER: 4/10: Awesome song, but once again Bruce, did you REALLY have to make your lipsynch obvious?
BRING YOUR DAUGHTER TO THE SLAUGHTER: 2/10: Lame song. Lame video.
BE QUICK OR BE DEAD: 9/10: Amazing song with pretty cool video. Awesome camera tricks and good editing with lots of symbolism (Bruce's dirt covered hands, etc.)
FROM HERE TO ETERNITY: 5/10: Mixed Feelings about this one. Cool editing but on the other hand, the "story" of the video is really lame.
HALLOWED BE THY NAME and FEAR OF THE DARK (Live): 9/10: Both taken from the Live At Donington video. Really cool.
AFRAID TO SHOOT STRANGERS: 9/10: This version has Blaze on vocals. Mixes a live performance with war clips. Cool video and Blaze rules on this song.
VIRUS: 3/10: Cool song, but lame idea to have the band play in an empty swimming pool and just have shots of the band members lipsynching to the camera. Plus what's with Blaze yelling at the camera during the long instrumental section??? This could easily be a Bon Jovi video.
MAN ON THE EDGE: 10/10: Awesome lighting effects with a cheesy but cool story.
LORD OF THE FLIES: 10/10: Cool footage of Israel and the band performing.
THE ANGEL AND THE FAMBLER: 7/10: Lame song but funny video, which is a bonus. Blaze's "Eddie face" during the part where he orders beer is hilarious!
FUTUREAL: 2/10: Another live video. Yawn.
THE WICKER MAN: 10/10: Cool video where a man stumbles into a secret outdoor Maiden gig, which makes everyone unhappy. What do they do? Turn into Eddies and burn him in a Wicker Man! Hilarious video and amazing song.
OUT OF THE SILENT PLANET: 8/10: Sort of a tour yearbook video. Cool rare performance videos, and really awesome song.
BRAVE NEW WORLD (Live at Rock in Rio): 10/10: Good bonus, but just buy the frakin' DVD. The whole RIR DVD is something to treasure.
Anways, awesome DVD, and if you don't have this yet, BUY IT!!!! It's completely worth the money. It's like a greatest hits CD but even better.
