Movie Review: Great DVD from Maiden!

I just picked up this DVD (new 2007 version) and I love it. I don't have as much of a problem with the editing as some do. It seems to calm down a great deal after the first song. The only time I really notice it after that is if I think about it, otherwise I really don't notice it. I do agree though that Steve Harris should probably let a professional video editor do the next DVD. I also own the "Rock in Rio" DVD and I would still recommend picking this one up. Since it's an indoor concert (as opposed to "Rock in Rio" being outdoors) it has a totally different atmosphere, very dark. The Gothic Castle stage set is really cool and adds to the atmosphere of this concert. If you like the "Dance of Death" album this DVD is especially worth getting. The song "Paschendale" is amazing! I also really like "Dance of Death" and "No More Lies".
Sound wise this DVD rocks! The 5.1 audio is amazing! Really makes me feel like I'm there. Great separation on the guitars. If I had anything negative to say about the audio I would have preferred that the drums were a little higher in the mix but that's just my opinion. There is a separate disc with a standard stereo mix on it but I haven't watched that one yet. The bonus features are great too. Especially the 70 minute documentary which is done by the same fellow that did the "Early Years" Maiden DVD. It really shows you what it takes to put together a big stage production like this from the road crew's perspective as well as the band's. Great stuff!
For what this 3 disc set costs I have no reservations giving it a big thumbs up! An amazing value! I would probably have given this set 4½ stars but since you can't do that I gave it a 5.
