Movie Reviews of IrisMovie Review: iris a movie about alzheimer desease Summary: 5 Stars
this movie reminded me of my parents. my mother suffers from end stages of alzheimers and in still at home with my dad. this movie portrays a lifelong love for each other and how the husband tries til the end to keep her home with him. it is a very tough road but he does mange to take care of her to best of his ability. kate winslet portrays her as a young woman and judi dench portrays iris as an older woman suffering from this horrible desease. what a performance and she should be given an oscar. it is very emotional and so true to life. i highly recommend this movie to show people what the daily activities of taking care of someone really entails. get your kleenix box out and ready
Movie Review: This Is What Academy Awards Used To Be For Summary: 5 Stars
An absolutely timeless film that portrays the true life of the British author and philosopher Iris Murdoch. It has been many years and many movies since I saw one this great. From any standpoint......human touch, poignancy of old love, relevance to current health care issues, irony, sweetness of young love, monumental sadness, there seems no end to the ways this movie can be described. Judi Dench and Kate Winslet spin a web of brilliance once again, but this time they have an incredible effort by Jim Broadbent with strong support from Hugh Bonneville. This is truly what academy awards used to be for. All 4 of these players deserve one in this sure to become a classic film!
Movie Review: IRIS Summary: 5 Stars
GREAT MOVIE! very sad and moving for anyone who has experience the tragedy of Alzheimer disease in your family.
I had this movie on VHS and it made it;s rounds between friends and places that dealt with Alzheimer's - and the tape was destroyed - having the disk is a must - and of course i am a Judi Dench fan - anything she does is excellent and a must have in your collection.
Beautifully done - Kate Winslet was excellent in portraying the young Iris Murdoch - of which the story is about - a British Philosopher and writer. Some of the narratives are amazingly beautiful.
Movie Review: Love Till Death Do Part Summary: 5 Stars
John Bayley and Iris Murdoch were married for a long time and were in love. It wasn't always a bed of roses but they stood by one another even when she was stricken with Alzheimer's disease. John did what he could for his wife but he knew he couldn't do it alone. For anyone who thinks that love and marriage are dead, watch this movie. Love and marriage isn't dead. Their marriage strengthened through time which made them have a profound respect for one another and a strong love that bonded them together.
Movie Review: A Beautiful, Well-told film... Summary: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful film filled with the joy of words, of love, and of life. The tragic beauty portrayed by Judi Dench is wonderful to behold and the alluring magic of Kate Winslet is fantastic. Jim Broadbent brings his trademark perfection to the role of a man fighting to become part of a world that is hidden in the mind of the woman he loves, only to find that HE is the definition of her world. This is a beautiful film.
