Movie Reviews of Inuyasha - Season 1Movie Review: Yeah! Box Set! Summary: 5 Stars
I was rather happy when the first box set of Inu yasha came out. As any one can tell you Inu Yasha is one of the best series ever made. It is also one of the longest series. That being said if you're on of those people that like your series to be over pat in thirteen to twenty-six episodes like most anime series you might want to skip this one. Put frankly the anime series is 167 episodes long and the manga is still coming out over in Japan. So take a seat it's going to take you awhile to get threw the series. The first season keeps a good pace though with mostly episodic plots until that later half when everyone has been introduced, which is a rather large caste of main and side characters. The music aside from the opening theme song, of which I detest, is very good perticularly the end theme. The art work is a tad dated but considering it's nearly six years old so it's aged well. The animation is smooth and streamlined for the most part. The voice acting is very good and hits the head exactly with each character. As the scenes flow together you won't have any of those all to common half minute scenes. The story line as one can expect is just starting to unfold into the intricacy of the series that it is renowned for. The characters are well developed and none feel half baked and are developed over time. The action is often and rarely there just to fill time and is usually interesting. The pacing in the first season is brisk but it does have a slow opening though it doesn't seem like it
Well that's all the good things about the series out of the way. Now on to the bad. There are not that many really the characters are likeable, the villain is by fair the most evil one I have ever come across, the plot is well thought out and so on and so on. You maybe asking why then isn't the series perfect. Because its too bloody stinkin long!!! Yes you heard me it's too long and slow. As I said I've seen all 167 episodes and the two main characters still haven't told each other how they feel or even hold hands or anything and the series is bloody over!! This really isn't bad until you stop and realize it's been 167 episodes and the entire series is over and this is supposed to be a fantasy romance when it really hits home. Mean even the two side main character's relationship is progressing faster. Added to the relationship stand still between the two leads they haven't even killed the first bad guy of the series yet. Trust me when I say this brings a whole new meaning to the word frustration. After 167 episodes and saving each others hides in nearly self sacrificing ways innumerous times they would have at least gotten to the first kiss or telling each other how they feel but NOOO!!!! Also if you're looking for an actually ending, keep looking as it is one of those anime that are based on a manga that's just too big to fully translate. Which means of course there is absolutely no closure or resolution to ANY of the plots. Still calmling down Inu Yasha is a great series the ending just leaves you feeling dissapointed and wondering what's going to happen.
Now then I review this box set itself. All I can say is that it's a total and complete waste of money. The things doesn't even have trailers all it has is the episodes, and most irritatingly it does not even give the song lyrics to the opening and closing themes, the reason I bought the box set in the first place. All in all if your interested in the series and have satellite and get cartoon network just watch it on adult swim and save your money. Sure you may miss a few things but after the second season the series hits the brakes. Mean one of the later seasons is little more then filler for them to think of ways to move the major plot points along as little as possible. Any way don't waste your money in buying the box set, rent it or watch the show on tv.
Movie Review: Check this show out even if you think you don't like anime! Summary: 5 Stars
This has to be the best show I've ever seen, and I haven't been this interested in any TV show since elementary school. (I'm now 26.) I saw a few scattered episodes on Cartoon Network last year, but left with the impression that it was the strangest show I'd ever seen. This summer I saw a few more, and while it IS still one of weirdest shows I've seen, I got so hooked that I couldn't miss a single episode that they aired. Then I had to buy the boxed set.
The show is kind of a cross between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Alice in Wonderland. Fans of Harry Potter or Star Wars would probably like it. Kagome (a modern Japanese girl) falls through a well and ends up in ancient Japan, where she meets Inuyasha (a half-human half-dog-demon guy). They join up with a fox-demon child, a lecherous monk with a black hole in his hand, and a demon slayer with a giant boomerang, as they try to keep the shards of the powerful Shikon jewel from the evil demons.
The series fills out with extreme sibling rivalry, love triangles, and developing relationships and romances between the characters. Often, good characters are shown to have weaknesses, and evil characters are shown to have a soft side. Of course, the fight scenes are pretty exciting, and the hideous evil demons are pretty amazing, too! The series flashes between action, romance, drama, and comedy, so you don't get bored.
You might be reluctant to try more anime if you've only seen Dragonball Z. Inuyasha is much more complex, with an intricate plot and interesting characters. The backgrounds are beautiful, the music is good, and there are times when you laugh out loud. One note--this show can be rather violent and bloody, and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone under about 11. (Cartoon Network gives it a TV-14, but it is much milder than their other TV-14 shows.) The violence is not glorified, so in some ways it is less disturbing than Looney Toons.
The price is great. With 27 episodes, it comes to $3 per episode. You also get to see the opening theme (not shown on TV), and you get the option to see it in Japanese with English subtitles. The dub is good, though--and being a cartoon you don't have the live-action dub problem of voices not matching mouth movements.
This is definitely not something you want to miss. I highly recommend this boxed set.
Movie Review: Great Anime, No Second Thoughts... Summary: 5 Stars
With Inuyasha going on it's fourth season now (at least in america), and three movies, it's only natural that anyone just getting into Inuyasha should get this Season 1 box set. For the money charged for three episodes on each DVD (Usually a little over $20.00), the price for the entire first season is a very good deal. This is not the best season of Inuyasha (Season 3 is the best), but it is still an excellent season.
It starts out with a teenage girl Kagome (a typical silly teenager no doubt)falling into a well that can take her 500 years back into the past of fuedal Japan where she meets Inuyasha a half demon. He is half demon half human, who wouldn't want to be one? Inuyasha doesn't because he wants the shikon jewel so he can make himself full demon. When Kagome shatters it, it is up to her and Inuyasha to find the shards of it.
Demons of all kinds use them for more power, as each one contains power on there own. Inuyasha's brother Sessohmaru has his mind set on killing his brother, but at the same time seems to enjoy fighting him. A young fox demon Shippo (he is so cute) joins the cast early on, and eventually the monk and perverted Mirouku. The main villian of the series is Naruku, a real evil demon with a very strong storyline as the whole show has. A demon slayer Sango doesn't come in until the last episodes (27 Episodes In All), but she comes into later seasons pretty every episode, so don't be dissapointed by her little part in Season 1.
All in all, Inuyasha has great characters, and hysterical humor between Kagome and Inuyasha lightens up the darkness of the series. Even the less important characters such as Kikyo who used to be in love with Inuyasha and died, and the old Priestess woman are great characters. The first 27 Episodes of Inuyasha will blow anyone away, as anyone who has even heard of Inuyasha has seen. Normal Animes have run anywhere from 13 Episodes to 27 Episodes at Average, but Inuyasha is nearly over 100 now, and still going. Truly if you have the money don't wait for Seasons 2-4 box sets, because this series is worthit. If you at all enjoy Season 1, keep going and purchase the rest of the series will no hesitation. Be sure to pick up the three movies too, because they are also excellent.
Movie Review: Inuyasha is brilliant Summary: 5 Stars
If you are an Inuyasha lover then I would suggest this box set instead of gathering the DVD's individually unless you like the special features on the three episode DVD's. If you don't know what the special features are on the individual ones then here is what they usually include: Textless songs, sketches, voices of the cast and Japanese promos.
The plot of Inuyasha revolves around a girl who was quite literally dragged into the sengoku jidai period of Japan. There she meets a fiery half-demon(Inuyasha), a cute fox demon(Shippo), a monk who is very fond of women(Miroku), and a woman talented in slaying demons(Sango). Their quest is to restore the Shikon No Tama after Kagome accidently shattered it and kill the demon Naraku who has cursed Miroku, turned Inuyasha and his love against one another, and persuaded demons to kill all of Sango's village.
If you have been watching Inuyasha on AdultSwim and are wondering if this will be plot fulfilling, then yes, it is very plot fulfilling. In a nutshell the group comes togeather, the jewel shatters, Sesshomaru is introduced, the story behind Kikyo and Inuyasha is revealed, Inuyasha gains the Tetsusaiga, or this contains episodes 1-27.
Inuyasha is like no other anime I have ever seen. Rumiko Takahashi(by the way I do recommend that if you are interested in Inuyasha you also read the manga. That is just as good, but in a different way then the TV series.) shows both love points from male and female. Alot of animes and mangas only show it either the boy or the girl facing love difficulties and laughs, but Inuyasha covers both. The combat can be a bit graphic and prolonged but it will have you on the edge of your seat.
Inuyasha is an excellent blend of action, comedy, and romance. Both my brother and I watch it for all three of these. Although Inuyasha takes a bit of time to reveal the storyline does develop quickly. You can get a great concept of Inuyasha from the first season. The second is better though. The first season is mainly shaping what Inuyasha will be about, the second begins to put the puppets into play. Inuyasha is a wonderful series, and easy to like.
Movie Review: SUGOII - It's totally amaZing Summary: 5 Stars
Anyone who even the slightest bit, loves Inu-Yasha, will LOOOOVEEEE this dvd boxed set ^_^
It's the first season and we get introduced to the entire Inu-Group ( Sango, Miroku, Shippo etc. )
And it's so sad, when your watching the episodes with Kikyo, especially the one where she is revived, and you see what happened in their past together...
They where happy together and were falling in love with eachother, and then the tragic desieves and evil scemes of Naraku destroys everything, i cried when i watched this episode...
Another sad Kikyo episode is called A Wicked smile; Kikyos wandering soul, where Kikyo tries to live as a normal woman, (though she is "dead" ) and accually finds a village where she can live... but, as many of the "stories" in Inu-Yasha it ends in tragedy, and she has to wander alone, not being able to EVER live like an ordinary woman; her greatest wish, throughout her entire life...
And the next episode: Kagome's voice and Kikyo's Kiss...
Kagome is trapped by Kikyo and is invisible to Inu-Yasha, so he can't see her... Kikyo tries to lure him into death, so they can be together forever, as they always wanted to... but Kagome breaks the "Invisibility" spell and Inu-Yasha sees her...
( but not before Kikyo KISSES him )
Kikyo look SO sad, it's really a beautiful sight looking at her, she is beautiful in the sad, lonely and serene way...
"Does that girl mean more to you than i do..?"... She vanishes into the air
It's also sad when you watch the episode:
Enter Sango, the demon slayer; When Sango's ENTIRE family gets killed,
and you see her, and her only ELEVEN year old brother, get shot by sooo many arrows... sad...
I cried again, it's alot more tragic and sad, than what i can make it sound like... trust me
I'ts an amazing Anime, i just want the SECOND season box... NOW!
Amazon, get the second season boxed set, and SELL it... yeah...
Anyway, this is amazing... And some fun scenes; Inu-Yasha sees Kagome naked ^_^; We see Inu-Yasha getting totally jealous and LOTS more
