Movie Reviews of Into the Blue

Movie Review: Contrary to shallow impressions, 'Into The Blue' will plunge you into a vortex and leave you to reel just below the surfure
Summary: 5 Stars

Unlike other films adrift in a Hollywood ocean, overpowered by the ever-looming 'Titanic' success of James Cameron's 1997 surprise iceberg hit, finally comes a film for it to reckon with of a far superior nature, and in a class of its very own. Contrary to first shallow impressions, 'Into The Blue' will plunge you into a watery vortex and leave you to reel and revel in a film that holds more depth and promise just below the waters surface. Within seconds 'Into The Blue' will unleash a power so strong it will leave a ripple effect in its wake, to jolt chip manufactures from their sleep, and surf producers riding on the creast of a Rip Curl wave, certain to cast viewers back in their seat and take you on a journey that is as course as a diamond in the rough, and as precious as movies come, with a refreshing burst of originality, breathing new life into unexplored sand dunes, and inviting travelers to appealing new vistas. It is in this film that all our hopes lie.

From it's very first frame 'Into The Blue' lights up the screen with tremendous force, and creates palpable electricity that surges with such adept accuracy, that Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer could never single-handedly harness in all their years of collaboration. Lightening has stuck the water and what it has captured in its intermittent flash along the sky, is a plane mid flight, that will steer it on a steep trajectory to a watery grave. 'Into The Blue' may strike anyone dead without warning. It will happen out of the blue and blow any previous film that has ventured here out of the water.

Where director John Stockwell's 'Blue Crush' stands alone about the ferocity of waves on a surfer's life. In this and previous films, John Stockwell has never lost his unique flare for telling hard-hitting stories that matter. He also shows a love for practicality in terms of locations, and a real eye for unsurpassed teenage angst and human drama, unmatched from anyone else in the movie spectrum. 'Into The Blue' sees John return to the water to prospect the vast depts of ocean below us. He does this with such skill the likes of which Steven Speilberg's 'Jaws', could never get its teeth around. 'Into The Blue' will take four friends and lull them like a musical box into a false sense of security, as they unlock the hidden mystery of the previously mentioned downed aircraft. There is no map to guide this film, and no dock to harbour your inner most fears and desires. No S.O.S. call or messages in a bottle to the police or ABBA to save you. Once you gleem what lurks within the shadows, only a single beam of light can offer any underwater explorer hope, that will do little to help seperate you from the darkness that penetrates through the blackness of night within an ocean of activity. However, no mediums or crystal balls will see you into the future and save you from the lure of buried treasure, and the feelings it will dredge up within you. The results could only leave you with an icy chill. When you have to barter for your life, and are given no other choice but to accept cold hard cash to fulfill a promise to shady clientele, that will either leave you riding high on the cusp of a wave, or tip you over the edge into the deep end, like you've been forced to walk the plank of a pirate ship, and your only hope for survival is to become ruthless in your resolve to cull every last adversary with any sharp arsenal at your disposal. Tranquil waters will stir and all hell will break loose below deck if you don't play your cards right and hold your breath. All bets will be off and you'll have to pay the ultimate price if you want to escape with your life. Get immersed as you dive 'Into The Blue', or drown your sorrows as your dreams are snuffed and the water takes your life and you are swept away. Where your body will never reach the shore again, and you wont be given a chance to say any final words and all hopes of survival will sink like a stone.
