Movie Reviews of Inherit the Wind

Movie Review: Torn between "God" and the "Devil"
Summary: 5 Stars

They don't make movies like this anymore. The acting is superb. You are torn between the forces of "good" and "evil", "right" and "wrong", "God" and the "Devil". By the end of this movie, you have changed your mind so many times about who is right and who is wrong you just have to admit that they both have flaws and both should win. No matter your religion or philosophical viewpoints, this movie addresses them all, and in a manner that is non-judgmental and forces you to think. When this movie is over, all you can do is sit there in a state of contemplative thinking and ponder what you would have done.
This movie is excellent. It makes you think, and best of all, there is no "good guy" or "bad guy" they are both equally right.

Movie Review: An unforgettable tour de force and superb script!
Summary: 5 Stars

This film is a triumph against the intolerance and the dark sides of the reason. The dreams of the reason produce monsters.
The generated legal battle between a Mathew Brady the hard fan religious and politician and Henry Drummond an opened mind lawyer about the Darwin ideas , keep full intensity all the movie.

This historical process lets you thinking about the imaginary circunstance about what would the destiny of USA if Brady would have been President?

Spencer Tracy and Frederic March are like the alpha and the omega in this match . One timeless classic film in any age.
Don't even doubt it. This film is for you and for a wide target in the social spectre.

A must-see; a winner movie!

Movie Review: Is NOT "all glitter and glamour but no substance"
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a 1960's marvel. The screen writers, actors and actresses alike do a phenomenal job making the Tennessee vs. John Scopes trial come to life. The movie has arguably more depth and reach than perhaps the actual court case had. Issues of Evolution and Creationism (while still present) take a back seat as Spencer Tracy (Counselor Drummond) argues for man's progress and right to think while not completely rejecting spirituality.
This movie will never be in danger of becoming irrelevant as it confronts issues of fanaticism, ignorance, bigotry, and group-think. In my opinion it's the best version of the story out there, play, movie re-make or otherwise. It's one of my all time favorites.

Movie Review: Incredible movie
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased movie just to add to my B&W collection of old classics, had never actually watched this movie. Incredible! A movie carried by the actors and the director, no special effects, no inserted drama - no over-the-top love interest, just a great movie that took us back to the era in question, reflected the mores of that era and revealed a society at a crossroads. There was no aspect of this movie that I could pan, excellent way to spend a couple hours with a friend viewing the last of the old school actors (Harry Morgan as the judge becomes the judge, trust me: you won't think of the Commanding Officer of the show MASH even once). Additionally - can't beat the cost.

Movie Review: Timeless
Summary: 5 Stars

The cast is incomparable; when Gene Kelly is only a supporting actor, you know that something special is in store for you. The camera work is wonderful. The dialogue is truly memorable. One can quote Tracy from any one of a number of scenes.

And the theme is VERY much current and provocative. Let this movie prod your thoughts about what happens when Biblical texts are misused as scientific material for science classes in school instead of as shapers of faith in an OT class in a seminary.

This movie can be watched over and over; fresh truth will rise up from it every time.
