Movie Reviews of Indian SummerMovie Review: BUYER BE CAREFULL Summary: 3 Stars
This one is tricky for most of the dvds out there are full frame fitted format. But there are also some in the widescreen aspect ratio format. I was in best buy and had to study the packaging very carefully because you can barely tell the difference. on the back look for 2005 as the date in small print on the bottom and in tiny black letters widescreen. Both packages are totally alike except for the dates. It is true I have it in Widescreen.
Movie Review: Excellent cast, weak script. Summary: 2 Stars
I'd been looking forward to seeing this movie. Nice casting and good acting for the most part. Competent cinematography. I went to camp as a child (Camp Tamarack) and lived in Michigan until adulthood, so I can relate to both the subject matter and environment. On the other hand, this movie has a "made for TV"-level script ("movie-lite"). The human relationships feel contrived, but I hesitate to use the word "contrived" because that may imply more depth than is present. The dialogue is often predictable, often Hollywoody (e.g., the use of repetition to simulate natural dialogue). The thin story feels like it was stretched to movie length. Only a few times did I think "good job": the second time Kevin Pollak commented on how small things were (the sailboat), Kimberly Williams' confrontation from the canoe with her fiance and the reactions of the other characters (and no -- unlike what I read in another review -- you don't get to see lovely Kimberly naked), and the ending. Another observation on the Hollywood nature of the film: the women were all beautiful (not that I mind, but it adds to the fakeness), the men had more physical variety (thus less fake), and the children in the beginning looked almost uniformly geeky (making me think they were chosen using nepotism). Overall, a good idea for a movie, but I would not recommend it.
Movie Review: Having a bad night? Summary: 2 Stars
Actually, I would have given this film one star, but I'm giving it two stars on account of the fact that if you have trouble sleeping, this is the perfect movie to watch. About ten to fifteen minutes ought to do before you doze off. The perfect remedy for your sleeping disorder. Don't even try to figure out how Diane Lane and Alan Arkin get mixed up in this mess. I thought summer camp was suppose to be fun...although that guy getting his hand dipped in pee was funny. Ok, so it got a chuckle out of me but I swear that's it. If you want to watch a good movie with Bill Paxton, go for "A simple Plan". In the mood for Diane Lane? Go for "Murder at 1600". Huge Alan Arkin fan? Check him out in "Wait until Dark". That final scene with Audrey Hepburn is priceless.
Movie Review: Boring! Summary: 2 Stars
This is one of the most boring films I've ever seen. I definitely think it had the potential to be good. What I didn't like was that you didn't really get to know the characters. I felt like an outsider while watching this film. I think if the writers had started out the film showing us the characters as kids at camp then it would have been easier to identify with them. I also thought the actor who played "Uncle Lou" was awful. His acting stunk, although I thought all the others were good. I have fond memories of summer camp so I think the concept of a camp reunion is good, but this one bombed. No wonder it isn't wasn't very popular. I hope a better summer camp movie comes out soon.
Movie Review: image quality Summary: 2 Stars
