Movie Review: Beloved Beethoven... a must for those who love his music
Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is simply spellbinding. Based largely on Beethoven's letters, it is a fairly accurate account of his life. I watched it with another fan and we were surprised to learn that Beethoven had good reason for having a reputation as a wretched man - he had a wretched life. Can you even imagine having such a gift that not even deafness could silence it? That such beauty was given to us by someone who suffered so much is amazing. Gary Oldman is brilliant. The score is brilliant. I can watch it again and again. This is a must buy.Movie Review: immortal beloved

I only wish more people could view this and pay attention to the very beginning, then they would understand the whole true story. The Beloved, (soon to be his bethrothed), whispered "I am pregnant" in his ear. BUT...He was going deaf and never heard her whisper that. That explains why he mistreated her all of her life. At the end, he finds out about it was HIS lovechild and it is too late.....What a fabulous movie!!!!Arrived safely, in perfect condition and I have watched it many times..MUSIC is divine...Movie Review: Gary Oldman is Beethoven

Being a pianist myself, I am well educated on the history of Beethoven, among other composers. Though the movie does have historical inaccuracies, for a Hollywood movie, I am impressed!
Gary Oldman truly captures the PASSION and the sorrow of Ludwig Von Beethoven in all aspects. The movie starts a bit slow, but for those who are into this sort of flick, you'll understand the reasons for this.
All I can say is I give this movie 5 stars and would reccommend it to ANY music lover!

Its very rare to find a movie of this calibre, todays movies are all about explosions and violence and sex, that they dont inspire an audience, or even motivate them to improve themselves. this movie is like a breath of fresh air in new-york. its drama, set, props are absolutely stunning. its script amazing, and its story line was good. in all, this movie is a milestone. Gary oldmans outstanding preformance, along with the great music of beathoven combine to make this a movie of truely epic proportions.Movie Review: Movie making at it's best.

If you have no appreciation for Beethoven or his music watching this film will undoubtedly change that. Directed with real verve and finely acted by the likes of Gary Oldman, I loved watching this film. I own this movie and drag it out every once in a while. Great recordings of his music by the current masters infuse some scenes with intense emotion: the emotions Beethoven himself must have felt. This is one of the finest period films I have seen, and can only recommend it highly.
