Movie Review: My Kids are Addicted to this DVD!
Summary: 5 Stars
What a fun DVD. My kids love love love to watch this (even multiple times in a row if I let them). The music is very creative and energetic. I would recommend it for any parent with young kids. You can tell this was recorded prior to their Disney deal, but it doesn't make it any less enjoyable. In fact, maybe that makes it even more impressive. A new and refreshing alternative for those of us parents who have watched more Wiggles than we can take.

It's like Mr. Rogers at the controls of the Beastie Boys in this eye-popping collection of music videos and concert performances from the Imagination Movers, a critically acclaimed rock band for kids. The Movers leap, slide, hop, stomp, strum, drum, rap and clap their way through 15 educational rock and hip-hop songs designed for kids and parents to crank up together.
Dressed in their trademark bright blue coveralls, these national award-winning musicians and real-life dads jam on guitars, bang on buckets and teach kids a variety of fun, funky dances and sing-alongs. This DVD features songs from the Movers' groundbreaking CDs "Good Ideas" and "Calling All Movers." Highlighted tracks include the XM Radio #1 hit song "I Want My Mommy" as well as "Clean My Room," "The Medicine Song," "Please and Thank You" and "Playing Catch."
Scott, Dave, Rich, and Smitty--the Imagination Movers--make music that's as much for parents as kids. While their lyrics are aimed at the short set, their bouncy tunes evoke pop and funk acts like Smash Mouth, Devo, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers (without any profanity or sexual innuendo). The first DVD from the New Orleans-based quartet, Stir It Up, features a heaping helping of material from both their CDs, Good Ideas and Calling All Movers. Lively videos alternate with energetic live performances, many of which feature audience participation. Some songs, like "I Want My Mommy (Time for Bed)," combine both approaches. Fans of the Wiggles and Bob the Builder are sure to find themselves tapping their toes with abandon, while learning some useful lessons along the way, like the importance of remembering your manners ("Please and Thank You") and tidying up ("Clean My Room").
