Movie Reviews of Il Divo - Encore

Movie Review: A Rich Blend of Voices and Personalities That Deserves an Encore!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love opera-classical and pop and rock and roll - all. I never would have guessed a group of four men in their 30's could have the trained and fantastic quality of individual voices, and blend them so very, very well so they sound like almost one voice. The songs are as varied and interesting as the way they are sung by this group of very talented young men. On top of everything else, they are good showmen, each with their own brand of charisma, good looks and style. This is the kind of music that I play when I want to relax or cheer myself up or both. Their music is invigorating and stirring, and many of the songs are tender, and the pure and lovely tones are both calming but also make me smile and feel the "chills" at the same time. I always looked at Simon Cowell as abit of a "Scrooge" of sorts, even when he was "right" about a singer on "American Idol." I was turned off by his cynical and abit arrogant demeanor. Fortunately, he picked a real winner with these four guys! Also, fortunately, these young men seem to be genuine, humble and very kind indeed, considering all of the women and men of all ages who adore them and come to see them all around the world. I have introduced Il Divo to 4-5 of my friends who never before liked opera, and who now like me, feel that this group is truly very fine and has a huge career ahead of them. Bravo, and encore! A song for everyone in their repertoire. If you know a good voice when you hear it, you cannot help but appreciate Il Divo!

Movie Review: Great Introduction!
Summary: 5 Stars

This DVD contains an hour-long a documentary filmed by the guys of IL DIVO to introduce them and their music to the public. All four of them talk about each other and their experience before becoming members of the group. They each have an audition story that most watchers of American Idol would be familiar with. Their brush with Simon Cowell is vastly different, however! Only the American, David Miller, even knew who he was! They speak clearly about their ideas and goals for their music. They are also very surprised by the success they were having at this early juncture. Video tracks from their second album are sprinkled in the documentary so there is no need to watch them separately. For those who love track videos there are two of those as well. Each of the guys takes a fictional part to show them coming together and enjoying success. This group has four intelligent, interesting, mature members who happen to be wonderful singers. They should go far together.

Movie Review: ABSOLUTELY AWESUM!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am not an *opera*holic.....but these 4 guys with all their talents put together, plus the atmosphere of the sensational background and the fireworks at the end....WOW!
iam not an easily to be impressed kinda person, but this is just mindblowing...i just had three points on the neg side....1) i wish they didnt fade out on the song, which was obviously their encore song.. at the very end of the concert..while the credits were rolling ...i just wanted to hear the whole song
2) it didnt go for long enough..i could have sat thru another hour of that concert and
3) dang! i wasnt there!
during the concert, carlos who stands at the far left is just so *aura*smatic.(if there is such a word) .it seems like he was just born to look handsomly kewl and have this special air and presence about him......plus have that *voice*.......and the third from the left, Sebastian.. well well.....what can i say! lets ask all the other women out there... Zann!

Movie Review: Il Divo - Personal bios and music
Summary: 5 Stars

This DVD is mostly devoted to how Il Divo came together. Simon Cowell, who discovered them, tells how he found them and what his vision was. The four members of Il Divo each tell their first impressions and their hopes for the group. The guys are not only great looking and charming but three have carefully-trained operatic voices and have previously been soloists on European and American operatic stages for 10 to 25 years before becoming Il Divo. They are from Switzerland, America (both tenors,)France (pop tenor,) and Spain (baritone.) The DVD offers three or four songs and also a short video of a practice session and local scenes. Having heard their voices, I was anxious to learn more about them and how they got started and this DVD covered it nicely. I am definitely an Il Divo fan now and will be watching for whatever else they put out.

Movie Review: What a way to introduce your friends to Il Divo
Summary: 5 Stars

Great DVD. I loved the fact that we heard the story behind the creation of Il Divo. To hear about their backgrounds and how they began to blend their voices and create a sound that is truly appreciated by all is incredible to me. They continue to get better as they branch out into a slightly different sound as each CD/DVD comes out. I can't compare their voices to any I've heard before. Simon Cowell is a genious when it comes to finding new talent and he was right on the mark when he had this vision for Il Divo. I recommend this DVD to all who wish to discover and appreciate just what it takes to find unknown talent, realize their potential and have a vision as to how that talent will take the world by surprise. Il Divo did and will continue to for years to come.
