This I think is one of the best pieces of acting Tom Selleck has ever done. He has Ike's mannerisms down. After seeing years of Magnum this piece makes his skills shine as an actor. I also enjoy some of his western type roles.Movie Review: IKE, a great story for all to see!

I hadn't thought much of Tom Selleck's acting until I saw this movie. I'm happy I got it for our WWII collection.
Movie Review: selleck puts in a great performance

Tom Selleck really does a great job here in this movie. He lays down a emmy quality performance in this movie as General Eisenhower. The rest of cast is very good as well and that only helps the overall movie. This movie shows why without Ike the whole d-day operation might have been a disaster like the earlier Dieppe invasion was. The one fact that we don't see here is that he was having a affair with a woman during this period of his life. His wife later forgave him for this and unlike today; peoples affairs weren't front page news. That was probably one of his few faults other than chain smoking which was quited common in that era but just as destructive as today. Tom Selleck though really gives you a feel for this great commander who proved that leadership isn't just a battlefield commodity it exists on many levels. We owe Ike alot to this day and this movie really shows us why that is the case and it shows Ikes humanity as well. It proves that this is the type of leader you want at the top. You want your fierce generals on the line but they need a Ike to steer them overall and make sure that they don't waste lives needlessly. Let's hope that Selleck can grab some more meaty roles like this one in the future.
