Movie Reviews of Ike - Countdown to D-DayMovie Review: View along with Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers Summary: 5 Stars
In the director's commentary track, it is mentioned that the idea for this film came from Stephen Ambrose. Then it clicked into place for me, to view Ike: Countdown to D-Day as an introduction, if you will, to Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. You will get both the view from 10,000 feet and from close up. Similar high production values, and excellent acting in all.
Movie Review: Thomas Magnum as Ike? Summary: 5 Stars
At first I thought the idea was a little odd, but Tom Selleck proves he is a fine actor of unappreciated caliber. You come away from watching this movie with a better appreciation of Selleck's acting abilities and with a sense of what Eisenhower went through during those final days counting down to D-Day.
Well researched and accurate, and wonderfully filmed and acted.
Movie Review: Tom Selleck as Ike Summary: 5 Stars
Tom Selleck delivers a stellar performance as General Dwight D. Eisenhower during his planning of the D-Day invasion. I have always been a fan of Mr. Selleck, but this portrayal was so perfect that I found myself forgetting he was not Ike. This is a very worthwhile movie to watch, to better understand that bit of history. I recommend it highly.
Movie Review: Ike Summary: 5 Stars
If you are looking for a war movie, this is not it. It is an excellent drama dealing with the D-Day invasion planning, and should be required watching for any management candidate class. Tom Selleck's acting makes you believe that he is Ike, and together with subject matter, makes this movie a winner.
Movie Review: An Outstanding Movie: perhaps the best war movie I have ever seen Summary: 5 Stars
and I've seen many. This film gives insight into how wars are really waged, long before battle is joined, and how Ike waged it. An outstanding achievement, with many memorable scenes and outstanding dialog.
One of my All-Time favorite movies. Period.
