Movie Reviews of I VampiriMovie Review: Bathory Summary: 4 Stars
Here is Mario Bava's tribute to the Madame Bathory story. I can't help but like these & there are many shows based on the Bathory theme. An old woman keeps herself young by taking in the blood of young girls in various manners. Here it's with the help of a Laboratory. Yes the whole family seems evil & you don't see much of the Dutchess when her niece is around.
It was 1956 when this came out & it does a fine job of copying the mood & pace of Bela Legosi's Dracula. The Dr. is evil here so it's newsman to the rescue. This is tremendously hokey & yet I still love it. Do you think they got the laboratory idea from Frankenstein? I love watching horror stories build & combine themes. 4 stars for one of my favorite plots regardless of the title.
I don't know why the offer page says 1963 that is wrong & the language is Italian with English subtitles. The subtitles are superb & obviously done by someone that knows spoken & written English. Enjoy!
