Movie Reviews of I.O.U.S.A.Movie Review: A good subject but poorly made film Summary: 2 Stars
I am familiar with the subject matter of this film, so I was looking for the topic being expressed in a more interesting and impressive way in the movie. But speaking purely from a film making point of view, this is a very poorly made documentary.
Movie Review: Disappointing Summary: 2 Stars
This film was entirely too technical. Not having a good understanding of economics and economic policy, I was completely lost. The subject matter is important, but the filmmakers lost an opportunity to appeal to the masses with this movie.
Movie Review: Libertarian Cant Summary: 1 Stars
What's worse -- a documentary that gets it wrong or a documentary that gets it mostly right and draws the absolutely wrong conclusions?
I was the choir for this flick. I'm typically flying into a rage over how my tax money is wasted (and I used to work for a defense contractor so I'm intimately familiar with this waste). I was ready to agree with everything here just as the title popped up -- and then I was subjected to the ideological hackery driving the Tea Party and TANSTAAFL dweebs.
"Hard choices!" "Bite the bullet!" "Austerity!" -- Those are the catchphrases on display here. And they won't fix a bloody thing. National debt is not the same as your personal debt to Capital One. I admittedly suck at math so I won't bother making a fool of myself trying to explain it but Dean Baker has built himself a career out of demolishing this nonsense so you should go look him up. I will say that Russia faced some "hard choices" after their brand new free-market kleptocracy imploded in the late '90s. The Russians "bit the bullet," they went for "austerity," and it gave the world Vladimir Putin.
And finally -- screw Ron Paul! That simpering randroid troll is the worst kind of libertarian (which is a real accomplishment, like being the most racist Nazi). He wants to cut federal spending for everything that doesn't directly pay his salary -- so it don't matter what he says, he's just fine with Medicare -- or spending that goes into the great Raytheon and GD furnaces. Seriously, the guy's been a supporter of "missile defense" for years. Not even the professional liars at the Pentagon can pretend that program has any possibility of working. And he tried to amend the Constitution making abortion a felony. That's your precious "freedom" candidate right there.
Movie Review: Many holes and fear monger in the way Fox news does. Summary: 1 Stars
The holes are, just off the top of my head, "this should be everyones concern not some terrorist in a cave", yet at no point mention stopping these theatre wars. The corporations pay 3/8 what the average American pays, WHAT!?!? Nobody sees this as a problem. The other holes include the fact that the greed of the rich in the 20's is what drove us into the great depression and social security [which is paid for by you and me, not corporations apparently (da-ding)] was set up to prevent another great depression by providing financial insurance should your corporate CEO decide he wants more money. That is why the Tea Party is funny, that and the East India Trading company flag. Goodnight. P.S. on a scary note what that Republican Senator from New Mexico(I believe) talks about a Islamic jihadist blowing up a nuke in the US, it almost seemed like he knew about plan B. should Americans not play the elite game.
Movie Review: Can the information in this film be trusted? Summary: 1 Stars
How can we trust a documentary from Peter G. Peterson?

Senior Chairman and Co-Founder, The Blackstone Group
Former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York
Former chairman and chief executive officer of Lehman Brothers
Co-leaseholder with Larry Silverstein of the World Trade Center when they were demolished on 9/11
This guy is one of the corporatist insiders responsible for the mess we are in.
