Movie Reviews of I.O.U.S.A.Movie Review: Every citizen needs to see this! Summary: 5 Stars
This documentary was an awesome wake-up call for all American citizens. I would highly recommend anyone view this and pass it on as far as it will go. Regardless of your political affiliation, this should be something we can all agree on. I have yet to see, read, or hear any other piece of media that does as good a job as this film does at distilling the 'boring' numbers/facts down into a understandable story of our current national debt.
Raising taxes and cutting program spending isn't a popular notion by any means, but if we are to avoid passing the buck to our children we may just have to do these hard things. How are politicians to be elected that will truly bring change to this situation if we keep crying 'More, more, I'm not satisfied!'? Let's be bigger people and take the time to rectify the situation before our children have to endure a different kind of America.
Movie Review: Ouch... Summary: 5 Stars
Well, first of all, a part of me wishes I didn't watch this. That's not because it wasn't good, it was very well done. That's why. Ignorance is bliss. This documentary was made before the economic crash of '08. The outlook on the American Economy was quite poor then. Well now some of what was predicted has actually come to pass and it's not even the worst of it.
They do a really good job explaining the history of the national deficit (and only in early America, the debt from the Revolutionary War, was it ever fully paid off). There is a lot that built up to our insane debt, but it boils down to fiscal irresponsibility.
This is a good documentary for people to pay attention to. I believe that it's more important now than it was when it was first released.

Movie Review: Excellent--Must Read for Every American Summary: 5 Stars
Every person in the U.S.A. should read this book. It is insightful and very relevant to the U.S. economy and our government today. If you weren't concerned about the future of our economy, you would be, after reading this book by David Walker. Mr. Walker summarizes the problems and presents solutions that appear to be politically viable. (Now, if only our politicians would take note!)
Mr. Walker presents facts that are accurate, timely, and "to the point". He brings to this book, his experience working in government and outside of government. He does not blame any one individual for the economic problems, but focuses on what the problems are and how to resolve them, while still keeping the book an "easy read".
I would highly recommend this book.
Movie Review: Manditory for every citizen Summary: 5 Stars
It is unfortunate that only 10 people were in the theater besides my wife and I to watch this documentary film. The past head of the GAO for the last 3 presidents is the 'star' of this film and he presents the case about the national debt in a logical and yet terrifying manner. This is a must see for every high school student in America. Unfortunately, this will never happen. The film does present a method to save the country, but it will come at a cost that probably few in this land of ours will want to pay. But,if we don't, there is no doubt that a payment of some kind will occur, but it will be disastrous. Once you see this, you will begn to change your personal financial decisions with a wary eye on the future. Don't see this at your peril.
Movie Review: Must-See Film Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent movie that explains the fiscal crisis our country is facing in laymens terms. It is a must-see film for retirees who will be relying on government for healthcare and social security, the current generation of workers who will be paying into these programs but will not receive the benefits when its their turn, and future generations who will be forced to bear the burden of our present overspending. Key figures featured in the movie include David Walker (former head of the GAO), Warren Buffett, Alan Greenspan and Paul Volcker. I have shown this film in a high school classroom and it was warmly received. The students were surprisingly inquisitive and understood the call for action.
